I Miss AIESEC International Congress 2009
Nov 5th
Yes, I actually do. Sigh… time flies fast…

From left: Yours Truly, Amine (Morocco), Giuliaono (Italy), Alan and Daryl
Now, if I want to go to any country in the world, I will know who to call.
Well, not any country but maybe… 20-30 countries in the world and in the network of AIESEC?
Plus, that picture was suppose to be a ganster look picture. Look at Daryl! Go spoil the picture only! Ish! Alan and myself did the typical “Klang” cinabeng pose. Hahaha
While it last…
Sep 3rd
I’m back! Back from three crazy weeks of intense preparation and making AIESEC International Congress 2009 the best conference ever.
I’ve got so much to share but I guess what I’ve gone through can’t be told in a quick post I’m gonna do now.
There were so much joy, fun and finally tears shed throughout the conference.
A team of 50 international strangers became close friends and even some found their love ones within the team.Yes, we have some disparities during the conference but, hey in the end of the day, we can just sit and laugh at each other.
Today we had a sharing session and I have never shed that much of tears before listening to each and everyone sharing their experiences and feelings towards the whole progress from the beginning.
Much praise has been given to the Congress Committee (CC) and I’m glad this whole conference ended up with a big bang.
For some, this will be where they will end their AIESEC journey and some others are just in the midst of their experience. While some, like me is just only starting our AIESEC journey.
One of the best thing I’ve gained by joining the CC team is world of opportunities. Yes, world of opportunities with several global companies.
These past few days, we have been sending few other CCs home and it is sad to see them leave after a short time spent together.
What’s left is the lasting joy that the conference over and we’ve made it a big bang! Today will be our last night stay at Palace of the Golden Horses and the rest of 20+ of us are now in the presidential suite singing karaoke with songs like I’ve Gotta Feeling, Lemon Tree, Love Story, Barbey Girl, I’m Burning and etc…
For me, I’m joining in and of course, I’ve started working for The Office’s monthly meeting tomorrow…
Till I write more, good day…
Another Update
Aug 25th
Heyyy You!
Hello! Hello! Hello! I am back! For a while now…
Just another update for my absence. Yesterdat, while running around going crazy, I had few misses for being away too long. Away meaning away from my usual daily life…
1) Blogging. I’ve been neglecting you, YapThomas.Com ![]()
2) Camwhoring. I think I lost my camera charger. ![]()
3) Food. Late night food, random food hunt and especially “Tai Chow”. Now can hunt for Ramadhan bazaar! Woot!!!
4) Working. Yes, surprisingly. But not too much because I’m being held up here like crazy too.
5) Chillaxin. With friends of course.
One year ago, I thought it would be easy to handle a congress. But, when reality kicks in, it is not at all.
One year ago, I was told it is not gonna be easy to handle this congress but I brushed it aside. Never underestimate!
Many times I was told that AIESEC International Congress would be the best AIESEC experience ever for someone who has not been instilled in the AIESEC experiences of leadership. YES! Definitely it is.
Till today, I’ve learned a lot of people skills. I have a diverse team and the come from Canada, El Savador, Morocco, Tunisia, Pakistan, India and of course Malaysia.
Anyways, I got sick and took a whole 12 hours sleep and now I’m back in action. Feels good to be back in action!
Tomorrow is gonna be a big day!
We will have Global Youth 2 Business Forum where Companies like PwC, Artemisia, Standard Chartered Bank, Cadbury, Microsoft, DHL, ABInBev, Tata Consultancy Services and Electrolux.
Most of the CEOs and VPs are all here… Time to do some networking here and there…
The room light is now dimmed and I’m firing love musics like Way Back Into Love, Meaningless Kiss, Partners in Crime and many more. Currently liking Longing Love by George Winston the most…
Oh! Last minute plan, I’m singing during Gala Dinner! Random plan but am still looking for the best duet song… On the list now is Something Stupid (Nadia! Remember this!?) and Way Back Into Love…
There is a party going on up at the Ballroom and today’s theme is What I Want To Be When I Grow Up… Don’t ask me who came up with that. hahaha
Okay, I’m gonna do my final round of check before I go and crash in my lovely Executive Suite

Being a VP Logistics for IC2009 is definitely gonna be such a great experience for me. This
Few days ago, my TL told me that he was afraid and scared and worried about the plans we have made so far. Myself on the other hand was quite relax and chill about everything.
But, that also is all because that I may have good training ground in such handling cases. Six (6) years back, I had a great training experience with a destination company. It was one of the premier destination company worldwide.
Also, thanks to my ungodly hours working with The Office, I have no problem with working late and sleeping late and crazy hours. For this congress it is badly needed. *phew* I’m well built tough to face it. (Shit. But so unhealthy lah.)
But anyways… Can’t talk much but here is how the working room looks like 2 days ago. Gonna go head to sleep. My teamsters are gonna throw me out of the hotel if I don’t sleep well.

Good Night

CC Pre Stay Day 4: The Theme Parties
Jul 24th
Day 1-3 I was away traveling. So I only get to join them on Day 4 and it was crazy cause I didn’t have much sleep.
I have to juggle between my day job and between all these two places to make sure everything is in good hands.
But it is all good. I can see the teams are moving forward and what not.
Anyways, let’s get the pictures out…

That’s Rene and Stanley (Slovakia)

That’s Katja (Germany), Pratyush(India) and CK (M’sia).

That’s my Team Leader, Eldon from Canada in Blue with other CC teams.

That’s Jana and Mirka from Slovakia, Nitin (India), CK and Emma (China) from the Finance Department.
What we were all doing?
Planning parties for our 10 days congress and this was the outcome…
by Layial
There are the generic themes that we can do:
* Red light, green light
* Pajama party
* Maybe a movie theme – perhaps – Slumdog millionaire…
* Disney theme – favourite disney character…So maybe Aladdin for MENA…
* CIA theme – or famous MAFIA theme – so the Yakuza, or the russian mob, or the italian mafia, or the american gangs, or teh latino Cartels (I might be excited about these themes…)
1. Halloween party: Scary outfits
and this one… by Rue Hann
and many many more! Parties for 10 Days! That’s gonna be fun for IC2009!
I personally like Inverse Party and Weirdo Party out of the lot.
Finding Love…
May 19th
I am putting up this congratulatory post to both Simon and Michelle who recently got engaged late last month. If time permits, I would have flown down there to Melbourne! Seriously!

Love couple eh?
Here is another one with them cutting the cake.

Happy Happy Joy Joy! Happy Happy Joy!
HAPPY ENGAGEMENT TO YOU BOTH!
(that if you two reads my blog lah)
Michelle is the sister of one of my buddy, Pat. We kinda have known each other for years now. More than 20 years I would say. She can nicely pass as my unofficial “jie jie” (sister)…
So, she is planning her marriage back here next year and she emailed me asking me some questions being the “travel agent” me she needed some recommendations on beaches. You know, the kind of wedding that is held on the beach with beautiful sunset and all. (Now you can “ahhhhhhh“). Furthermore, I’m sorta like the Tan’s family official travel agent already. -_- hahaha
Anyways, yeah… I emailed back my reply and then next morning I check my mail again and voila, there is a reply to the topic of “hello businessman“.
The reply was:
“wei are you involved in AIESEC??
Simon and I met in AIESEC…..
good place to find a wife/husband….actually a lot of my friends met their love through AIESEC!!!!”
Now, that makes my involvement in AIESEC more meaningful. To find my love…
That if that that someone comes along lah. If I do seriously find anyone there among the 600 or more people coming, I will definitely let you all know. Oh, I can have a selection of varieties as well. 20 over different nationalities okay! Jap? Hongkie? Taiwanese? Thai? Aussie? I think I shall stick to Malaysian…
I hope that one day when I tell my mom I decided to bring back my love and when she greets my family “Hallo.. Tai kar hou… Ngor hai ROWANDA from Rwanda” I seriously hope my Mom don’t start to faint. Hahaha. No me is not racist! There should be not racist in this world!!!
Or maybe I shall start a dating agency and promote AIESEC. “Join AIESEC, Find Your Love”
-_-
Okay, I guess the Monday toll is ticking higher… time to sleep while I shall resume my regular posting albeit my day is not jeapordized again.
But then, you will never know the possibilities right?
The Melting Pot of Cultural Diversities
May 14th
This is gonna be fun and colourful…
AIESEC International Congress 2009 is just 99 days away and I am very excited.

Just look at my logistics team member’s nationality below.
Team Leader:
Eldon (Canada)
Teamsters
1. Pratyush (UK)
2. Subhan (Pakistan)
3. Cindy (El Salvador)
4. Kong (Malaysia)
5. Carina (Austria)
You tell me, how can this congress not be colourful with my team members from different countries. I’m so gonna learn some new language from El Salvador. Maybe I can start with “I LOVE YOU?”
The congress committees are all made up of 60% Malaysian and 40% non-Malaysian from countries such as Hong Kong, Dubai, Germany, Thailand, Poland, Turkey, China, India, Brazil, Slovakia and Greece. Whoa! You many countries and we are anticipating more than 600 participants from over 100 countries.
This is gonna be a nice congress…
