While it last…

I’m back! Back from three crazy weeks of intense preparation and making AIESEC International Congress 2009 the best conference ever.
I’ve got so much to share but I guess what I’ve gone through can’t be told in a quick post I’m gonna do now.
There were so much joy, fun and finally tears shed throughout the conference.
A team of 50 international strangers became close friends and even some found their love ones within the team.Yes, we have some disparities during the conference but, hey in the end of the day, we can just sit and laugh at each other.
Today we had a sharing session and I have never shed that much of tears before listening to each and everyone sharing their experiences and feelings towards the whole progress from the beginning.
Much praise has been given to the Congress Committee (CC) and I’m glad this whole conference ended up with a big bang.
For some, this will be where they will end their AIESEC journey and some others are just in the midst of their experience. While some, like me is just only starting our AIESEC journey.
One of the best thing I’ve gained by joining the CC team is world of opportunities. Yes, world of opportunities with several global companies.
These past few days, we have been sending few other CCs home and it is sad to see them leave after a short time spent together.
What’s left is the lasting joy that the conference over and we’ve made it a big bang! Today will be our last night stay at Palace of the Golden Horses and the rest of 20+ of us are now in the presidential suite singing karaoke with songs like I’ve Gotta Feeling, Lemon Tree, Love Story, Barbey Girl, I’m Burning and etc…
For me, I’m joining in and of course, I’ve started working for The Office’s monthly meeting tomorrow…
Till I write more, good day…
Another Update
Aug 25th
Heyyy You!
Hello! Hello! Hello! I am back! For a while now…
Just another update for my absence. Yesterdat, while running around going crazy, I had few misses for being away too long. Away meaning away from my usual daily life…
1) Blogging. I’ve been neglecting you, YapThomas.Com ![]()
2) Camwhoring. I think I lost my camera charger. ![]()
3) Food. Late night food, random food hunt and especially “Tai Chow”. Now can hunt for Ramadhan bazaar! Woot!!!
4) Working. Yes, surprisingly. But not too much because I’m being held up here like crazy too.
5) Chillaxin. With friends of course.
One year ago, I thought it would be easy to handle a congress. But, when reality kicks in, it is not at all.
One year ago, I was told it is not gonna be easy to handle this congress but I brushed it aside. Never underestimate!
Many times I was told that AIESEC International Congress would be the best AIESEC experience ever for someone who has not been instilled in the AIESEC experiences of leadership. YES! Definitely it is.
Till today, I’ve learned a lot of people skills. I have a diverse team and the come from Canada, El Savador, Morocco, Tunisia, Pakistan, India and of course Malaysia.
Anyways, I got sick and took a whole 12 hours sleep and now I’m back in action. Feels good to be back in action!
Tomorrow is gonna be a big day!
We will have Global Youth 2 Business Forum where Companies like PwC, Artemisia, Standard Chartered Bank, Cadbury, Microsoft, DHL, ABInBev, Tata Consultancy Services and Electrolux.
Most of the CEOs and VPs are all here… Time to do some networking here and there…
The room light is now dimmed and I’m firing love musics like Way Back Into Love, Meaningless Kiss, Partners in Crime and many more. Currently liking Longing Love by George Winston the most…
Oh! Last minute plan, I’m singing during Gala Dinner! Random plan but am still looking for the best duet song… On the list now is Something Stupid (Nadia! Remember this!?) and Way Back Into Love…
There is a party going on up at the Ballroom and today’s theme is What I Want To Be When I Grow Up… Don’t ask me who came up with that. hahaha
Okay, I’m gonna do my final round of check before I go and crash in my lovely Executive Suite

Aug 19th
Being a VP Logistics for IC2009 is definitely gonna be such a great experience for me. This
Few days ago, my TL told me that he was afraid and scared and worried about the plans we have made so far. Myself on the other hand was quite relax and chill about everything.
But, that also is all because that I may have good training ground in such handling cases. Six (6) years back, I had a great training experience with a destination company. It was one of the premier destination company worldwide.
Also, thanks to my ungodly hours working with The Office, I have no problem with working late and sleeping late and crazy hours. For this congress it is badly needed. *phew* I’m well built tough to face it. (Shit. But so unhealthy lah.)
But anyways… Can’t talk much but here is how the working room looks like 2 days ago. Gonna go head to sleep. My teamsters are gonna throw me out of the hotel if I don’t sleep well.

Good Night

It’s Hall of Fame for Gary Ng
Mar 25th
YearrggccchhhhH!!
So much has been written or posted about this guy called Gary Ng from Singapore. Some call him Singapore’s Edison Chen. My source of news is from Joshua Ong’s post “Singapore’s Edison Chen Gary Ng“. You can go and find other sources for links and video. You will not get it here on YapThomas because I don’t have it myself too.
From what I read, this Singapore’s Edison Chen reminds me of one of my friend. I knew him long time ago and he is a friend from Holy Redeemer Church (HRC). Back then, it was 2001 or 2002 if I am not mistaken. The youths at HRC started to deteriorate, because most of them either started working or they went to other churches. Many people tried to help to revive the youth and one of the activity that was held is a monthly meet for youths in Taman Berkeley and Taman Eng Ann BEC.
It was the first run and it was held at the Johnson’s home (not the real family name). So, the Johnsons’ got four kids and all of them are active in youths back then. Not now anymore. It all started with a quote from the Bible and then some sharing and we finally came to a topic of youth, sex and religion.
One of the sharing was how we are taught sex is a sacred gift of God and should be kept sacred till Holy Matrimony (marriage). Then, it went on as how the youths should set an example in the teachings of the Bible.
Jeremy (not his real name), then voices his view on HIS believes in sex. He said that sex is like a trophy on the wall for him. It is one of the many experience that many youths nowadays enjoy and practice. It is what brings two individuals together, stronger. Sharing the love of God. Those are what he said that night.
I remember clearly he said “You see, it is like a trophy on my wall. The more girls, the more trophies. It’s MY wall of fame. I don’t want to go out there and people will laugh at me because I haven’t had sex before!!”. It was clear that night, Jeremy had too much to drink. He sat in, gave his very own views. Satisfied and walked out. Those present were all shocked with his comments and views. Many of whom are present were much younger in their teens. Some giggled and some just kept quiet, lost of words maybe.
I wouldn’t disagree that many youths nowadays would take it that way. They feel that it is a glory and fame that they should obtain. So many peer pressure out there in competition to achieve a high rank in their very own “hall of fame”. No wonder, there are even orgy parties held during New Year’s Eve.
That time, I find Jeremy’s comment disgusting and I still is, to this day.
Financial Security
Jan 20th
It is yet another great lunch talk I had earlier today.
So yeah, I was in the midst of doing some plumbing work in the office and I got a call from her. She works nearby and ask to meet up for lunch. Yes, part of my job scope is plumbing too! Austerity drive! Must do everything yourself. Call plumber cost RM 150, do it yourself, save RM 150. It’s P&L!
Anyways, back to the topic.
We were talking about what’s new and everything. So happen both of us got good news to share. The talk ventured into the topic of financial stability.
The gist is that, she has been dating and throughout the relationship lately, her BF is kinda ignoring the fact of this part of “SECURITY” which women nowadays would look into, besides all those mushy mushy blah blah blah security…
When women hint that you need to buck up on that part of “security”, you better buck it up. They will never leave, but they would just keep on complaining and ‘yacking‘ till kingdom comes. So, to overcome that, buck it up!!!
I mean, come on, we have to be materialistic. You like it or not, money will somehow be part of your life. It can’t buy you love, but it will work things out smoothly. You still need food and home and cloths. All those need $$$$$$$. Enough said.
Many people, including youth nowadays neglect the fact of the importance to plan their finances in a very proper way. I had a bad start after college, and I don’t rely much on family. Not a person who is born of golden spoon either. I am no expert to tell you what’s proper financial planning, but it is something one has to learn by himself.
Financial security takes up a big chunk in a relationship to really work. I mean, you don’t need to be super rich, but you still have to provide the basic means and men has the bigger responsibility in this part. So, I think.
Unless, like I told this friend of mine that she can be the career woman and his BF can be the house-husband. Which, I find, not a totally wrong concept. Why not? The world is changing, so, we have to just learn to adapt.
So men will now do the dishes, tuck the kids to sleep, change the kids’ diapers, clean the toilet, clean the house, pay the bills, buy groceries, mow the lawn and yada..yada..yada..
Hmmm.. interesting. Maybe I could give it a try.
BUT, NO!
I still want to be the voice of the house. It’s just men’s EGO lah…
I want to be the one providing to the family, more. I want to be the one making sure everything is taken care of for the engagement, the wedding dinner and suits, the honeymoon, the wife’s maternity, the car, the house, the kids’ growing up expenses, the kids’ education and the maid (You lazy, you pay).
But, of course, this responsibility can be or rather should be shared with the partner, but us men takes the bigger chunk of responsibility. It depends. Sometimes the partner earns more, then, communicate and share it all out. Remember, you love the person, not the person’s money.
To do all the above, we need a proper planning. We need to plan from now itself that, what life do we want to enjoy when we age.
Do we want to enjoy just an average life or above than average life?
I certainly would choose the later.
So, in order to make the later happen, the progress starts now! I don’t want to wait till I’m hitting late 20s and still vague on what I want to achieve in life.
I once made a toast that I will be a millionaire by 30.
I think, I’m on a right track to provide financial security to the family in the future. Even if not for the family of my own, but to myself too. I’m sure women out there would agree on this financial security points of mine
I, have started my journey. Have you all men started your journey already?
