Shanghai World Expo 2010 – Culture, Science and Technology
May 11th
I thought I would like to write up more on the Shanghai World Expo 2010.
The whole purpose of this Shanghai World Expo 2010 is to showcase the culture, science and technology of each participating countries, to the world. Most importantly to create business opportunities.
If any of you would remember, back in the 1960s. There are two famous Wold’s Fair held in New York in 1939 and 1964. That were the similar event to the current Shanghai World Expo 2010. It was then US was in their great era in military, economy, technology and of course science. It is also a time where US was coming out of depression in 1939. Maybe, it could be a show of strength towards the cold war they had with Russia back then after the World War II.
Now, the sleeping giant has awaken, thus the Shanghai World Expo 2010 comes to life. True or not, don’t hold my words for it. China is set to become the next big giant in economy, science and technology also not forgetting as well, the Chinese culture. That I can say, it will happen and it’s happening already.

Watching the video above, gives me great feeling. A feeling I can’t describe with words. Maybe it was because of the music… Hehe.
It is somewhat like Age of Empires, where you can see how each achievement each age can bring to a certain nation. Truly amazing. It’s Age of Empires, live in Shanghai, 2010!
Okay… Maybe I should start planning to head over to Shanghai World Expo 2010.
I may sound that I’m comparing two countries on this particular event. In actual fact, World Expo happens every 5 years. The previous World Expo 2005 was held in Japan.
This video can tell you more facts on Shanghai World Expo 2010.
The World Expo is govern by the Bureau International des Expositions.
My final question before I part this post is, will Malaysia bid to host a World Expo?

The World Expo Site in Shanghai.
On the night of 30th April 2010, Shanghai launched the Shanghai World Expo 2010 in style. Al Jazeera’s Divya Gopalan reports.
For those who can’t make it there, worry not as you can be part of the World Expo though Shanghai Expo Online. Shanghai is surely exploiting the online technology to the max.

Through Shanghai Expo Online, you can interact with every available pavilion that is available there. You can even walk around the expo, just like playing Sims. It is truly phenomenal that you HAVE TO give it a try. Wonder if they would create Sims Expo? Hmmm…

I shall be covering the Shanghai World Expo 2010 more in coming weeks. There’s so much to talk about. Stay tuned.

State of Emergency in Thailand
Apr 13th
Earlier yesterday, I did not want to leave Bangkok. But now, I’m glad that I left Bangkok.
When I was at Bangkok airport at about 4pm, I saw footage of the ‘red shirts, supporters of the ousted former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin giving a government vehicle current Thai Prime Minister Abhisit a piece of their mind.
The picture above is not as scary as the footage I saw on their Thai National News. Bricks were thrown, chair, table (I’m serious), and I think practically everything they can find around that area to be thrown at the car.
I can’t imagine the amount of shock Mr. Abhisit would be having that time. He could be shouting “beung! beung! reo!” which means “fast! fast! quick!” to his driver to get outta that zone to safety. Gosh!
Then again, as a tourist, I felt very safe in the city. But I can’t judge further because throughout Bangkok was really quiet the whole weekend because most Thais went back for the Songkran festival.
Oh! Good idea for the Thai police and army force. Use water cannon today and shot at the “red shirts”. I don’t think they will fight back. Celebrating Songkran Festival at a whole new level of experience!! Play water mah!! hahaha
Seriously, already a big shame for ASEAN Summit being canceled, this is gonna give a big blow to the country, in terms of tourism. I read Thai paper yesterday morning and it is reported that Thailand is expected to lose 200 Billion Thai Baht from this on-going protest.
See, Malaysia is such a peaceful country. No? The only force we Malaysians use is to force you out of the ruling government.

Earth Hour Trial Run and Preparation
Mar 24th
I went back home yesterday with a big surprise!
Earth Hour has already started…!!

or… was it on trial run?? hahaha
My housemate lit up the house with this.

Now I know, all you need is Knight cooking oil, a bowl and facial tissue.
Pour the cooking oil into a bowl and take few facial tissue and roll them into a long length and dip it in just like the picture below. Now you are more than ready to have light during Earth Hour. Can last very long as well this ‘light’…

Not to worry. We can all save electricity this coming 28th March 2009 and many days too.
Just replenish these.
Support Earth Hour this coming Saturday!

Change We Can Believe In.
Jun 9th
I was spending time watching YouTube and I watched the end of United States’ Election Primary few days ago. It was the end of the nomination days for The Democratic Party in the United States. Both the Democrats who is running for the nomination for the top seat of the country in the oval office have their speech.
I am inspired in a way as a citizen of another country of their speech.
Just watch to and see for yourself.. Like their speech. Especially Obama’s of course.
This is Hillary Clinton’s Concession Speech…
I would be shouting “Yes, We Can” all the way from Malaysia as many of our leaders worship them like God. What? Yes, that’s a fact that how much we as a nation depends also on them in terms of economy. We don’t rely 100% but well in a way, we do in some certain percentage.
Barack Obama! You have my support from Malaysia! Woot!
Pangea Day – Malaysian Participated
May 24th
My mom got some dunno what leaves.. smells minty.. and boil it with water…
ask me to bath with it.. saying that it will wash all the bad luck away from me..
Got such thing?
I’m officially full of luck.. now… where is my 4D winnings..???
10th May passed.. and yes.. I’m still on this particular date.. you got a problem?
Pangea Day was hosted here in Malaysia.. heck.. they even show live.. and I mean it.
LIVE SHOT of us Malaysian waving at the camera, seen by millions worldwide..!!
Did you saw me?
So, it was not a big gathering with people.. but I would say the number was about 20..
I bet most of them are watching at home already.. but the whole purpose is getting
people together and watch the film together…

the people who have turned up.. different nationalities..
People would just come from afar and watch the whole live telecast and may not know anything about it.. But they have found a common interest…
A better understanding of each other through films… that’s the whole idea…
There is a point where Dr. Kataria the founder of The Dr Kataria School of Laughter Yoga Medicine, came up to the stage and ask everyone who is watching that live telecast to stand up and laugh…
The whole world is laughing! People from China, India, US, Russia, Malaysia and Australia are all laughing at the same time. Different continent, different time zone.
Let me share this thought-provoking conversation:
About 50 people have filed in and are standing around, eating fruit and introducing one another. It’s been beautiful listening to how people are describing Pangea Day to each other. Here’s a conversation I overheard just a moment ago:
“So, what’s this all about?” a lady whispered, sipping a cup of coffee.
“I’m not sure exactly. It’s an international organization that’s showing a whole bunch of short films, made by people all over the world,” said a man, who a moment before had been a stranger.
“So, the point is for us to see how life is like, on the other side of the world?” the lady asked.
“I suppose. And it’s also being broadcast right now, all over the world. At this exact moment.”
“Really? Like, people in India are watching that guy talking right now?”
“Yep. People in India. People in Singapore. People in St. Petersburg and El Salvador,” the man said, touching the woman on the arm.
“No. Way,” said the lady, blushing a little.
“And the best part? It’s being projected onto the Pyramids, as we speak,” said the man, clearly getting excited.
“That’s amazing,” said the lady, and then both of them fell silent for a moment, watching the projection screen. After a minute, both of them laugh out loud at something in one of the movies.
They look at each other, startled to hear the other one laugh. And, suddenly, the lady starts to laugh again, and beams up at the man.
“You know what I think the best part is?” she asks. “That people in India. In Singapore. In St. Petersburg and El Salvador. That people who are standing in the desert outside of Cairo – that all those people just laughed, too.”
Well, isn’t that just wonderful…?

Myself, Sharief and Ija… at the end of screening…
Sharief came all the way from Kajang area… That shows how enthusiastic he is…
Ija is the owner of MySpicyCorner…
I’m now looking forward to Pangea Day 2009. If I’m still around the same time and day they are going to hold the event again… If I am, I will more than glad to be involve in this whole project again full force…
