P1 WIGGY – Best Mobile Broadband in Malaysia*
May 5th
*base on YapThomas’ observation so far and NO, I’m not paid for this write up*
Now you see why I put a * at the end of my topic? Because, I don’t want other mobile broadband providers suing me or anyone else telling me that I’m wrong for putting up that statement.
You want the best mobile broadband? Here is YapThomas’ recommendation.

This is the kind of mobile broadband that people like me who is on constant move that demands a reliable, stable and fast internet connection on the go wants.
It has been years since I waited for a decent broadband. It has been 2 years now since Green Packet was awarded the WiMAX service here in Malaysia. The wait has been a worthy one.
Let me quote one sentence I wrote back in my March 2007 post.
“But, one particular company, namely GreenPacket is gonna kick everyone’s ass so big this time.“
I would say that… true to my words, they did so in mobile broadband. Or was it that I complained about them back in October 2008 that’s why they came out with the Wiggy?
What is Wiggy you ask? Just five basic knowledge about Wiggy from P1.

One of the features I look for in a mobile broadband is connectivity. It has to be constantly connected. Like how I tested Celcom Broadband on the road back in March 2009. But then again, that is not the connectivity that I want. I want a connectivity that doesn’t break off from time to time. I tried both Maxis Broadband and Celcom Broadband and it was horrible! I can’t even stay connected for a good 3 hour and it is very frustrating that when you are in the middle of your work, connection just cuts off.
Come let me show you how good this Wiggy is at connectivity. I was stayed connected for a good 17 hours. and the longest was nearly 29 hours! Keng or not!???

This is how small Wiggy is compared to an AA batery. I can carry it everywhere I go. Well, the same as Maxis and Celcom Broadband, but I think Wiggy looks way cooler…

During the media launch few weeks ago, Chief Marketing Officer of P1 Michael Lai said that we should bash them as hard as we could. I’ve only got one thing to bash.
“Can you please put more network coverage on the map and start kicking ass harder??!!“
That’s all I could bash, because with Wiggy I can do the followings which I can’t on Maxis Broadband and Celcom Broadband.
- I can load YouTube without major lagging problem…
- I get to upload pictures to Facebook…
- I get to connect to my VPN and use my booking system…
- I get to upload pictures to Flickr so that I can blog…
- I manage to finish download 1 movie!! Whoa.!!
Well, that’s kinda it. There are more but I don’t think I need to proof my point further.
So what are you waiting for? Grab a Wiggy and have fun now! Oh look, they are giving a 10GB of Fair Usage Treshold. With Celcom Broadband, I only get 5GB and I’m paying RM 139 for it! Talk about value, you know how to calculate lah okay…

Oh, one last note. I do really hope that the connection of Wiggy in my area will be the same. I will definitely complaint if in the the near future more and more people starts using Wiggy in my area and congest the connection. Definitely will…
That if P1 continue to let me use Wiggy for free or just end my trial period after 3 months. Maybe a discount will do lah.. I’m not greedy. I will write nice things if your product is nice to use. So far, it has been great.

WiMAX should go Mobile ALREADY!!
Oct 19th
Yes, I demand it to happen already!! I don’t understand what is taking so long for it to be implemented by all the licensed companies??
We all want better mobility. We all want better broadband. We all want better access.
By saying better, it doesn’t have to cost us, the end user a BOMB!
Like how you need to pay RM 999 for a modem. WHAT? I don’t have thousands of ringgit to spare from my monthly earnings, therefore, it doesn’t make the cut for me.
Maxis USB Broadband is a bane for me. I tried using it, yet again. No way I can live with it.
I need an internet access where it provides decent connectivity. By saying decent, I mean, an access where it is not constantly broken.
Some type of access where I can log in wherever I want. Of course not every corners of Malaysia, but at least, in the Klang Valley itself! They say WiMAX is cheap to setup with a tower which can covers more radius than currently what WiFi can cover. One tower – many users.
WiMAX is the next big thing after WiFi. While being the next big thing, its speed should be the next “fast thing”. No?
I dread for such great internet connection which is on demand due to the nature of my job which requires me to work on the go. Imagine I’m at my client’s office and I got a call and I need to access the internet with my laptop. I just need to hook up with the WiMAX USB modem and voila, I’m connected. Simple as that.
Oh wells, all dreams aside…
I think, I better go and get myself a good phone. Either E71 or Blackberry so at least, I can read emails and get some documents done while on the go. Hmm.. which choice is better? Wait or get myself a darn good phone…???
Is WiMAX or Wireless Harmful??
Oct 10th
I seriously don’t know. But I shall give you this link where we all Malaysian have been hard talking about this topic. Read ‘Say NO to Penang’s Free Wifi, XD ‘ in LowYat Forum to see what these average Joe thinks about the recent Hoo Haa about the harmful WiFi or WiMAX or whatever Wi Wi.. maybe Nintendo Wii is harmful too.. -_-
I bet we all are very uncertain ourselves on the actual risk from WiFi or WiMAX. It has been resported by BBC that “Wi-fi health fears are ‘unproven’.
I quote from the BBC article:
“Wi-fi seems unlikely to pose any risk to health,” said Professor Lawrie Challis, of Nottingham University.
Prof Challis, chairman of the Mobile Telecommunications and Health Research (MTHR) programme management committee, said: “Wi-fi exposures are usually very small – the transmitters are low power and some distance from the body.
“They can be near to the body, however, when a laptop is on one’s lap and my own view is that just as we encourage young children not to use mobile phones we should also encourage them to use their laptops on a table rather than their lap, if they are going online for a long time.”
Mobile phones and many other gadgets are also considered a possible risk to the health of humans. None of them are proven scientifically. It is very typical that human will only believe whatever that is proven scientifically. Unless a pure and true statement and a wide study which has its proven accord is done and shown to the public, not many people will believe. Imagine if that would happen, this multi-billion dollar industry will just skydive from where they are now.
Professor Malcolm Sperrin, a medical physic expert told BBC in the same article that:
“Wi-fi is a technique using very low intensity radio waves. Whilst similar in wavelength to domestic microwave radiation, the intensity of wi-fi radiation is 100,000 times less than that of a domestic microwave oven.
“Furthermore, tissue can only be effectively heated by a wavelength that is closely matched to the absorption, and there are strict guidelines for ensuring such absorption peaks are avoided.”
The type of radiation emitted by radio waves (wi-fi), visible light, microwaves and mobile phones has been shown to raise the temperature of tissue at very high levels of exposure – called a thermal interaction – but there is no evidence that low levels cause damage.
The expert has spoken. I shall not elaborate more about that.
Wathc this video I found on YouTube.
A Malaysiakini reader nicknamed Wizurye wrote ‘Wi-Fi has more pros than cons‘ And I would like to quote part of his letter:
While it is good to be safe than sorry, I am sure that the possible ‘hazards’ posed by Wi-Fi would be very minimal considering that most people on the street are being exposed to higher and more powerful frequencies being emitted from handphones.
In other words, if such frequencies are indeed dangerous to human beings, we should ban handphones before anything else!
We should also be asking why there is virtually no research on this issue by the US or European countries if the issue has such serious repercussions on public health.
Even hospitals are installing Wi-Fi technology and have yet receive any complaints from the health experts working there. Don’t you think these so-called experts will have more knowledge on what is good or bad for themselves and their patients?
We shouldn’t be worrying too much or else nothing will get accomplished. While I agree there is a risk, no matter how minimal that risk is, I feel that we should not neglect improvements just because there is a risk involved.
We all drive to work even though we know we could meet with an accident. Are we going to give up on cars based on a fear that we might meet with a road accident?
I certainly do agree on what Wizurye wrote. Ban telephones or any other products that emits more radiowaves than any other devices! I myself don’t know what it is all about the risk that I’m getting. If handphones has risk, which I have read much about it, then just use handsfree. It is way better that way. Similar to WiFi or WiMAX. Find ways to avert from the danger! Stay far away or something. I don’t know what’s safe but oh wells, I’m just another typical average joe. Until its proven unsafe, I will harp for the expansion of both WiFI and WiMAX technology. I want to see them EVERYWHERE…
What’s your say?
Selamat Hari Raya – Jangan Salah Kampung!!
Oct 1st
So to the many of you who are celebrating Hari Raya… Bear in mind.. don’t get to the wrong home village. hahaha
Enjoy the video..
Really, it clearly sends out a message for you to use P1 WiMAX now. What you waiting for?
Oh yeah.. same like me.. waiting for their USB modem…
Then wait on with me…
P1 WiMAX goes Bollywood, hires The Flasher
Sep 19th
It has to be one of the most daring move ever!!
They are going all Bollywood!! hahaha…
The tagline “Free Yourself” doesn’t really justify for me…
Maybe they are trying to tell you, free yourself from lousy internet…
Pay more for the service, and we make sure we give you the best!!!
I shall not justify further as I’m not a user. I don’t I ever will, why? Because if I were to sign up with P1 WiMAX, I will have to pay RM 999 for the modem! WHAT!?? You kidding me? Where to find that much money to pay for it wor! Siao wan…
RM 999 divide by 24 months of contract = RM 42
RM 89 for the P1 WiMAX 1200 package = RM 89
Total I need to pay per month for 2 years = RM 131
Then, with their recent launch, now they are hiring The Flasher to promote their product with a very direct statement.
WiMAX. BIGGER AND BETTER
The Flasher was a little bit the fail la in the end.. See how at that point he cannot capture the market? Maybe The Flasher need to throw something extra. Don’t you think?
We are all typical Malaysian lah… We “leech” on better deals.. ![]()
But then, we shall compare apple to apple lah.. price and service somewhat compliments each other and we really need to see the big picture.. not just pricing…
WiMAX, what’s with the fuss??
Sep 8th
I don’t know.. I was too free and maybe I share with you all what’s WiMAX.
What’s the fuss about it..
and maybe you will be able to understand a little bit more about WiMAX…
ENJOY…
So there ya go…
Mamak anyone??
P1 WiMAX – A view on the offers
Sep 2nd
Whoa! I just checked at Packet One’s website! There is coverage at my area! There is coverage at my area! WOOHOOO!!!… *jumps up and down x 10000*
How do you check? Here is where you should click. CLICK.
Come to think of it, even though the offer is great, for such a bandwidth, I wouldn’t be able to be mobile with such a big modem.
PERSONAL PACKAGE

BUSINESS PACKAGE

ADDITIONAL CHARGES

The modem price is RM 999 and when you sign up during the promo period which is now till 30th September, your modem price will be waived! KINDA LIKE… WTF if I were asked on my opinion on this.
So, meaning after the promo period you will have to pay the modem price ON TOP of the package price and what not? Whoa! In canton, MM TAI LOR.. (not worth it)…
Unless the connectivity is SUPER FAST as say, maybe, 90% best effort? I will surely go for it. Otherwise, hmmm… I shall stick to slowmyx..
What say you guys?
I’m just waiting patiently for their USB dongle modem.. then I will at least have 99% of YES to sign up then…
P1 WiMAX Launch at Mandarin Oriental
Aug 22nd
On the 19th August 2008, P1 WiMAX was launched and it was great that I get to attend this auspicious event! Come on, it is like being part of a revolution that will change the internet broadband landscape…
Before I can go ahead, you can read all my previous WiMAX related post. The listing has post since 2006 where I started following the news of Green Packet, the parent company of Packet One who has plan to roll out WiMAX here in Malaysia up till today, the launch on the 19th August 2008.
So I am here at the P1 WiMAX launch and the setup is great! They had the girls body painted in “wtf” colours to parade their products…

Then, these two girls are so call the “mascot” and the “escort” of the event…

Pre-event, there are displays of products at the foyer and I had a chance to see what P1 has to offer with their WiMAX. Here is their video streaming product they call “Packet Eyes”.

Then, they have even VoIP…

and of course their official launch product, the WiMAX modem.

They had chocolate fountain at the foyer.. so I practically whacked the mashmallow like damn a lot of them…

The launch takes place at the Grand Ballroom at Mandarin Oriental Hotel, KL.
Hosted by Hannah Tan, it was a grand scale event and eventually, the people behind the whole event are from Hotshoes! As usual, their event is trademark, IMPRESSIVE!.

The whole ballroom is packed!

As usual, opening speeches and Michael Lai did an impressive speech on stage. It looks like impromptu but, he has his speech readilly written.

and.. then.. Dato Shaziman gave his speech and thus, THE LAUNCH!
They had an opening act, which I would like to show it here… kinda boring but I like the laser effect. KEWL!
Another launch video of the P1 WiMAX….
Chunted firework display on stage…

and then… they had a Live Streaming with Johor Bharu and Subang Hi-Tech. Watch it!
This is the boy featured in the video…

Hi name is Matthius. I hope his name is spelt correctly… heh..
What’s funny is that they had a Malaysian Book of Records for the first then subscribers of P1 WiMAX! I seriously don’t understand this part, but oh wells…

The event ended with some performances which I skipped and attended the Press Conference…

This is it… the launch was great… Prices? I shall put it up tomorrow.. then you can compare who do you want to use.. P1 WiMAX or Streaslowmyx?

P1 WiMAX! Apa Free Trial! PFFT!!!
Aug 13th
I once talked about the P1 WiMAX Free Trial I encountered while I was buying lunch one day at Wisma Cosway.

The can have the cheek to throw a road-show at Wisma Cosway to pull in people to sign up. Then, that agent of P1 said that we will be called within one to two weeks upon signing up.
NOW IT HAS ALREADY BEEN MORE THAN TWO WEEKS! KNNCCB!
No Call Yet! KNNCCB X2
Should I blame P1 or the agent?
That agent is very lucky I forget their company name and misplaced that contact number of the company. Else I will call in and shout at them already! Gah!
Summore, their official website has testimonials to be read. Come I post it here for you to read. Boycott their website, read the P1 testimonials here at YapThomas.Com -_-

Testis Number 1

Testis Number 2

Testis Number 3

Testis Number 4
There you go! Four (4) testimonials on their trial of WiMAX!..
I have been following WiMAX on their development and they didn’t even give me free trial. Lagi, my office so near KLCC. Bahgero betul…
Oh wells… like my friend would say “How I knoww…. maybe you U-G-L-Y????”
Oh wells…
Anyone got the trial already? Care to share with me?
I so want to get my hands on it LIKE NOW!!!!!!!!! gah….
Free WiMAX?? Sure Or Not!!??
Jul 31st
I was walking to buy my lunch at Wisma Genting today and I passed by my usual route through Wisma Cosway. I saw a group of people bearing the sign of WiMAX and Packet One logo!
I walked nearer, and I saw a sign that says:
FREE WiMAX!
Whoa, I jumped in excitement! The moment I have been waiting for!
But, when I went to the booth, I saw this:
Free 30 Days Trial!
^%$#$$%^^#!!!!! wait.. %$#@##@$#!%@$!@$^#&^!#^% !!!!!
What lah! I thought got free internet, I sure straight away sign up lor.
Nevertheless, I signed up anyways.. haha, the kiasu me! Come on! It is the long awaited WiMAX which I have been following for the past one year. More than one year in fact!
But anyways, I am actually still waiting for that technical guy from P1 to reply me if I can use their trial for my office use as I am at KLCC, AND.. I spend like more than 10 hours in office everyday.
So, let’s see who comes back to me first lor. Mana tau, I get two devices leh? hahaha
The girl at the booth (shiat never ask her name -_-) was very quick in handling my application, taking down my details and also photostated my IC to be recorded and said someone will call me in 7 days to tell me about collection of the WiMAX modem.
I was also helping the girl to promote to the other two guys sitting on the same table filling up the form. Chehwahh.. like a pro only, telling them all about WiMAX summore its from P1 whom I’ve been following for so long. Come on, I used to help my brother who was an agent for Green Packet, the parent company for Packet One. Then! How else you think I know so much and why I am so eager to find out more?
I think I should be appointed Product Ambassador by Packet One lah!
LIKE SERIOUSLY!
but oh wells, they always go for well-built-body guys and super cute-sexy-hot-model-look-alike ladies. So there you go, my opportunity for a quick fame was just instantly killed. Unless they don’t think like that! muahaha
Oh, being itchyfied me, I went to P1’s website and check-out if there is any latest update.
You know what? There is! They are throwing a contest.

ANDD!! They are going to be at PC Fair also!! Yeah, the girl told me to go check it out. It seems that they are going to have a live preview on how fast WiMAX is going to be and you get to FEEELLLL the power of WiMAX!

WOOT!! Dances around!! Can’t wait! Can’t Wait!
Oh NO! Its TOMORROW ALREADY the PC Fair!
I shall go there snake snake.. Who’s with me??? !!
