It's all about my travel experience and things I love to do…

KL Sentral to LCCT
Jan 28th
A lot of people would rather pay a taxi to LCCT which would normally cost RM 80 from any location in Klang Valley. I’ve got my regular whom I always use when I head over to airport. His name is Mr. Kana and his number (Zero-One-Six) 2735934. A reliable chap and always on time to pick you up. He usually charges me RM 70 to LCCT from Sunway.
Anyways, the point is. There is another way for you to reach LCCT from KL Sentral. It is a service by Express Rail Link which brings you from KL Sentral to LCCT in less than 50 minutes. (I’ve calculated the time)
First, you need to get yourself a ticket from KL Sentral. It will only cost you RM 12.50 and the train will take you to Salak Tinggi.

Then, from the Salak Tinggi station, you just need to walk out to the main entrance and you can see the transit bus waiting for you to board.

When I was traveling (December 2009), there were not many people in the bus. They even have a luggage storage space in the bus. It will definitely be a challenge to move in and out for those who got abnormally large luggage. Not too sure if they have luggage compartment at the bottom as they usually does.

For full train schedules, please visit KLIA Transit to LCCT – Schedule.
There you go, my experience using KLIA Transit to LCCT. Will definitely travel with KLIA Transit again…

World Class Sustainable Cities 2009
Mar 19th
I WANT TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!
I just read about this and I want to go for this so so so so so so so so much!!!
But, must pay. RM 500! -_-
I’m gonna ask if this conference is HRDF claimable. What? I’m stingy that way okay!
World Class Sustainable Cities 2009 (WCSC 2009)

Now, I’ve always love the topic of sustainable development. Wanted so much to continue my studies on sustainable development back then, but the only viable place to take up such course is in South American universities.
Even Queensland University of Technology don’t have a comprehensive course on sustainable development. Even they do, but it is a sub topic under some architectural studies. Oh wells…
One major part of sustainable development I like the most is transportation. Transportation is like one of the many arteries that links the Central Business District (CBD) of a city. Example like Kuala Lumpur, the transportation is choking itself every single day and the CBD can’t even pump properly on a daily basis because of lousy transportation system. Well you get what I am trying to say.
You can see that I have linked StreetFilms under the category of Tourism and Development. I like what they do and their mission.
I feel that, being a government who has the kind of resources and funds, we can even build a better transportation than what we have today. Yes you have LRT, but what is the point of building the network but you ‘planners’ didn’t think about parking space? Dude, how am I going to ride on the train when I can’t even find a ’safe’ spot to leave my car? By the roadside? Might as well drive to the city. Safer. Got parking in the city, but NOT ENOUGH.
You see? Not sustainable enough our city. Good, but not that good.
Now, back to WCSC2009. These are the speaker series this coming 24th March 2009.

Urban Transportation of Singapore
by Choi Chik Cheong, Land Transport Authority, Singapore
Look! We have to learn from our neighbour! Like seriously, why?
Let’s hope our local government authorities and people in our government actually will learn something from this conference and maybe KTM Berhad can finally get someone to run it’s rail like a real business and look forward for a better profit instead of RM1. They made a lost RM 99 million in 2006. It is not even sustainable for the government to keep running KTMB like how it is and keep on throwing in public funds to help KTMB. KTMB NEEDS A RE-VAMP BADLY!
Wonders if anyone from our Malaysian Transport Ministry will go for this WCSC2009.
I want to go. Let’s see how I can pull some strings here and there…
Exploring Perth City On Foot
Mar 11th
We reached The Old Swan Barracks and left our bags in their holding room.
Everytime, when I reach a new destination, I will have to do one thing first.
I will explore that particular location I’m staying. Scaling my perimeter, leaving my first-timer footmarks all around the Perth city was what I did. Yes, I traveled the city on foot! Also we need to study on the public transportation system so that we know how to move around on what mode of transportation in Perth.

Spent pretty much half-morning walking around the city, which is actually quite small. So after walking for some time, we decided that we should find a place for lunch. Looking around we found a Malaysian restaurant on Barrack Street. Wheeee!!! Malaysia Boleh!!

NO! We didn’t dine in there. They are serving Roti Canai for AUD$ 8, if I’m not mistaken! Gosh! I wonder if they actually make the dough for 48 hours… -_- Worth the money you pay ma. Taste nicer also.

Rue said that, if we don’t visit The Perth Mint while we are in Perth, our trip will be incomplete. So, Perth Mint then we went looking. Read. Given my “superb” skills with map and location, I took the lead. I failed. I lead them towards the west of Hay Street, Wellington Street, Murray Street and ended up in Chinatown instead. Haha. Don’t blame me! My mapping skills needs 24 hours to adjust from Kuala Lumpur to a new location, Perth.

Decided to throw away my men ego in asking for directions, I walked into Perth Visitor Centre which is just right opposite of Perth Train Station and ask for directions instead. The centre has all the information you need to know about Western Australia in a whole. What to do, where to eat, where to stay and many more. They have their advisors all ready to take your questions and give you their best advice.
We got our new direction to the mint and it is right towards the east of the city on Hay Street. It is like the other end of the city. We arrived at the mint just in time to join a group for the tour.
Once we are done with The Perth Mint, we headed back to the city with red Central Area Transport (CAT) bus. It took us back to the city center on William Street and Hay Street. It is already 6pm and by the time we walked around again to explore the city, the time is about 7pm. The city is dead at this hour. Like dead, dead.

It is getting late and while walking back along Murray Street, we saw a group of people looking up and there was this graphic video shown on a building and eerie background music playing.

It was an abstract video presentation of tiny humans put together to form abstract movements and objects. I seriously do not understand the whole meaning of the video, but hey, didn’t I say abstract?
We are totally beat and we retire back to our hostel.
There you go, exploring the city one whole day on foot. Imagine if you do that in Malaysia, you are already swimming in your cloths. The weather in Perth is so nice that you don’t really sweat because their summer is dry, not humid. Oh… I miss the weather in Perth.
Bus Crash No More!!
Jan 30th
Chung Lern and his fellow friends has started a petition blog to make a change in our
transportation system, mainly the express coach/bus companies in Malaysia.
They are somehow reckless and irresponsible for all their mistakes and it caused many
lives till date and the latest was on 25th January 2008 near Slim River, Perak.
The 25th January incident took away three lives.
Lee Nian Ning (1987-2008)
Mohd Zailani (1985-2008)
Pang Poon Eng (1988-2008)
I’ve not read about the other two person in the list except for Lee Nian Ning.
She was an ace student, intelligent go-getter and well.. future doctor to be.
A blog was started today called Bus Crash No More as the petition blog.
The main concern is that for many years, we Malaysians are haunted by the killer
rides from north to south vv and from east to west vv on express coach/bus.
There is no proper regulations. Ministers promise everything but does little to be
known to the public while the public continues to add profit to these ignorant companies.

We need to make an impact on this matter and tell the government who they are
actually serving. Not their parents, in-laws, uncles or aunties. It’s us, MALAYSIANS!
KLIA Express service is just pathetic?
Dec 11th
I was at KL Sentral today evening waiting for my client to arrive. I passed him his
ticket and sent him off at the gate of KLIA Express Rail Link.
At the counter buying his ticket, there is this man, assuming to be an Australian
approach the counter and asked the guy at the counter
“Hie, my friend and I have already checked-in and the lady there said that
we can’t check in our surfboard as it is wouldn’t be allowed by your side and we have about 2 hours to go to catch our flight!”
The conversation was something along this line.
Then the counter guy radio-ed his supervisor and there she came and upon insisting,
she kept on saying sorry and say it is their policy to not allow such large item on board
the train to KLIA as there is not much space in the luggage compartment and they are
not allowed to bring it to the passenger compartment due to safety reason and also what
if other passengers will complain.
This Aussie was so furious and kept on asking if she would allow it for this time and they
would take all due care of the surfboard throughout the journey. He even asked where
is it stated that they can’t carry such large item on board the train..
The lady supervisor wouldn’t buy his words and in the end, the Aussie furiously said
“This is fucking ridiculous! You know that?. It is just a piece of surfboard!.. bla bla bla”
After saying goodbye to Aman, I walked over to see how big the surfboard is in distance.
It is pretty huge and I’m sure the KLIA Express Rail Link peeps could be able to accommodate that large piece of surfboard. Come on.. don’t tell me their luggage
compartment is so small till it can’t fit a surfboard?
Really, this is fucking ridiculous! What if there is a sudden need to board such item by
a VVIP? I am sure at any that time if it happens, the KLIA Express can accommodate.
VVIP what..
These two gentlemen are not just ordinary people I would say. They are not VIP but,
they are traveling on First Class. Those who can afford to travel First Class, in my
opinion should be given better treatment exceptionally. They are paying premium
price and of course they should deserve better.
It is service and service should sometime be blind of rules. It is the extend one would
want to go to ensure satisfaction and of course safety. In my case, I would let him do
so provided I bring him into the train and put him somewhere away from the majority
passengers and ask everyone sitting around him if it is OK for him to put his surfboard
there. If no, I kick the surfboard out. If yes, he is sure a lucky guy.
And I was just talking to an airline manager about 3rd world mentality.. sigh…
Oh well, I think a law is written by human and it is human who decides to overwrite it.
In such a case, they already checked-in and from what I read in their Conditions of Carriage in their website, it states under section 3 that
‘If you bring any luggage onto our trains or premises, you will be responsible to
properly store and take care of your luggage and for any injury, damage or loss
caused by it as a result of your failing to properly store or take reasonable care of
it.’
Then again in section 6.1 (b) it states that
‘We reserve the right, however, to refuse to carry any item of luggage, even
if it has been accepted on a previous occasion or is normally accepted, if in
our opillion -
(1) it might cause injury, danger or inconvenience, or damage to
property;
(2) there is not enough room for it;
(3) its loading or unloading may cause delay to trains; or
(4) it is not carried or packaged in a suitable manner.
Why our Malaysian law, any law is so double wan… First you say you can provided you
take care of it and all damage is in your hands. Then, next you say you reserve the right
to prohibit you certain items base on bla bla bla…
Don’t you think it is just pathetic?
Rudeness…
Sep 20th
*the brother got a blog.. LOOK AT IT!*
Sometimes, we need to take care of our manner lah.
Seriously!
I was on the LRT today going back down from KL.
There was this guy who was seating down, facing the window.
It took me a while to notice that some noise made by him. Mumbling and randomly
uttering some random words loudly on random.. Totally random.
One look, I knew he is on the small bit of “Down Syndrome”. I might have judge
wrong but well, I can see it. I have a god-sis who is younger than me, by lot, she is.
I ignored him and leave him be.. as it is God’s will to make us who we are.
At a stop, I can’t remember, I guess it is Taman Paramount. Two ladies came in.
One sat one sit apart from him and another opposite of her mate.
When this guy made the so called “funny noises”, these two ladies looked at each
other and gave some small laughters. “HOW RUDE!” I thought!
When the guy left his seat one station after, just to stand up at the end of the train,
these two ladies looked at each other and continued their laughter, in a way trying
to hide their laughter..
I seriously wanted to just turn to them and say:
“What if your children is born like that and I am putting this small laugh like you?”
Think when you act is all I can say…
Sometimes, I will act like no-one’s business and never think…
But now, after going through my everyday’s life routine…
I improve and act accordingly.. because I know how is it felt like…
VeryTheRapidKL
Sep 9th
I took the Rapid KL bus Number 105 to go to Singapore Airlines HQ…
It is in the morning around 10, i took the bus..
So it brought me one whole round.. and it reach my destination one hour later.
Why? because of the freaking jam.. and it was so chaotic when it reaches
Medan Pasar..
So, here is the routes that I’ve taken..

See!! it says 17-20 minutes for each journey!! at the bottom..
It took me one freaking hour just to reach my destination..
Rapid KL, to me is well intergrated..
It connects to every possible points in Kuala Lumpur by bus and train..
My findings is that, people are so reluctant to take the bus..
I don’t know why?
Citizens of Kuala Lumpur must be educated to take public transportation..
They must be educated on the routes available, and how they could
connect from one point to another point..
I remember myself taking the Bus no. 105, somewhat a month ago..
A youth in his 20s, rather 28, I forgot, is the driver of the bus..
So rare I can see and meet a driver of this young age..
He said that, most of the bus drivers is not helpful and just do his/her
job driving the bus, but neglects CUSTOMER SERVICE…
I agrees with him 100%…
The bus I took yesterday was okay, leaves on time, but stuck in a jam -_-
One guy boards the bus at Medan Pasar and ask if he could get to
Jalan Yap Kwan Seng by the same ride
The bus driver said “Naik Dulu, Naik Dulu.. nanti boleh sampai..”
He can at least educate that guy by telling him the exact number to take,
and invite him to take his bus and interchange at another stop..
Wouldn’t it be easier?
The price is reasonable at RM 2 for ONE DAY RIDE!.. UNLIMITED..
How good is that?
And still we have citizens complaining petrol incease la, toll increase la,
parking increase la and no pay increase..
Take the freaking BUS and u can save LOADS!!
That is what I am doing.. taking LRT and BUS..
LRT and BUS monthly ticket only cost me RM 125
LRT only monthly ticket cost RM 90
BUS only monthly ticket cost RM 80
Parking at LRT staton varies from RM 2-4.
I understand the weakness of the system.. but the people must have the
trust in the system for it to work.. The mayor should announce a one day
public transportation DAY.. so everyone must take public transportation..
