Practice what you preach…
Aug 27th
Five more days to Merdeka and I wish to come up with a 5 days blog towards
our ever colourful and happening “Merdeka” celebration..
Let me first touch on the sensitive issues…
Umno Youth head Datuk Seri Hishammuddin said that the waving of the
keris during last year’s Umno Youth’s Assembly was a symbolic gesture.
He further said that the keris does not only belong to the malays..
Not being a one sided here, I would tell Hishammuddin on his words to
“practice what you preach”.
“The young people today no longer see it (keris) as a symbol to uphold ketuanan Melayu (Malay dominance).”
Come on, it is during this event (MCA Youth’s 43rd Gen. Assembly) that he
put out this comments. Tell me Datuk Hishammuddin, would you allow us
the chinese to wield your keris and wave them around like how you did, and
be rest assured that your own race people will not be offended?
I am sure they will. The keris is a symbol and mark of status, if it is to be
said correctly. The keris was only held by people with status like the royalties
or high ranking persons during the malay sultanate era, by the malays.
Let us respect the status of the keris as it is by not changing it…
Why people are so sensitives? Why they would claim this and that?
It is there is a lack of understanding of the things we do, and within our own
country that we sometimes forgets our past. The independance is achieved
for each and every citizen of Malaysia, to enjoy equal rights as a citizen after
being ruled by Big Boys for years…
Sad to say, we have not achieved what we wanted to achieve.
What we see in Malaysia now is just a piece of un-solved puzzle..
There is a campaign called “project happy malaysia” for bloggers to blog in
either Bahasa Malaysia or Bahasa Inggeris. I’ve just jump on the wagon for
this wonderful project/campaign. I think it is a better reach of understanding
amongs each of us, Malaysians.
So far, one good read, the best so far is this. As true as it is, it’s just great.
Dear readers, take this time around for the coming of our Merdeka Celebration.
