I tell you, it is the above kind of report that they pass it to you and expect you to consult them Doctors for consultation to really understand better of the report and every consultation, they will be charging you say, RM 150? What’s the irony is that, usually consultation would last most also 15 minutes.

Lucky me I have so mmaaannnnnyyyy friends and among that mmmaaannnyyy friends, some of them are Doctors.

Anyways, so here I am waiting. It feels like I’ve been sitting outside the OT for like whole day already. I’m actually not suppose to be sitting here, but who cares lah. I want to get first hand news.

Not helping when the thoughts of the scenes in Grey’s Anatomy when the doctor have to approach the waiting family after each operation.

Really not helping even, I’m watching Grey’s Season 3 here now. T_T Maybe I shall switch to Heroes…

The waiting… has been and is very dreadful… I can’t find better words to describe the feeling now lah.

Taking a break now while I’m in the middle of overclocking myself.

Wanted to write a post about overworking the brain and went to Google for a term for it. The answer came even more shocking than I wanted to know.

Come on! I just wanted a term to name “overworking the brain”. I’m sure there is like a “scientific” name for it. But anyways… look what Google shows me when I search for “a term for overworking your brain”

One of the search result is a link to “Top 10 Biggest Brain Damaging Habits“.

It is scary I tell you… I don’t know how true but people who is as workaholic as me, grab on tight.

1. No Breakfast
People who do not take breakfast are going to have a lower blood sugar level. This leads to an insufficient supply of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.

Oh No! I better start taking breakfast from now onwards. Must not forget my healthy start of the day! MUST!

2. Overreacting
It causes hardening of the brain arteries, leading to a decrease in mental power.

I’m okay with this. I’m mostly calm and don’t panic as much as I used to.

3. Smoking
It causes multiple brain shrinkage and may lead to Alzheimer disease.

Not a problem as I’ve quit smoking! Yay! Another point! Moving on…

4. High Sugar consumption
Too much sugar will interrupt the absorption of proteins and nutrients causing malnutrition and may interfere with brain development.

Teh “O” Ais Kurang Kurang Kurang Manis. Another point!

5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air decreases the supply of oxygen to the brain, bringing about a decrease in brain efficiency.

Hmmmm… we all live in Kuala Lumpur all sure exposed to pollutant air. What can we expect? Nice cool wonderful and cleaner air to breath just like in Perth, Australia? Yeah! 10 years down the road maybe.

6. Sleep Deprivation
Sleep allows our brain to rest. Long term deprivation from sleep will accelerate the death of brain cells.

OK! I need to work to improve on this more. What’s the time now? 3:13AM! Shiats and I got a lot to work on. Err… Help?

7. Head covered while sleeping
Sleeping with the head covered, increases the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects.

Oh Oh!… I have the habit of doing this. Shiats. Moving on…

8. Working your brain during illness
Working hard or studying with sickness may lead to a decrease in effectiveness of the brain as well as damage the brain.

SEE! I TOLD YOU! Don’t work when you are sick. Not good! Next!

9. Talking Rarely
Intellectual conversations will promote the efficiency of the brain.

Nope. I don’t think I have this habit. I listen a lot but that doesn’t mean I don’t talk a lot. Come on, I’m dealing with tough customers daily and only intellectually persuasive words can win them over.

10. Lacking in stimulating thoughts
Thinking is the best way to train our brain, lacking in brain stimulation thoughts may cause brain shrinkage.

No way I’m lacking stimulating thoughts. How to be lacking when your boss throws you a sales target comprising 8 digits and tells you “Go figure how you can achieve that in 2010!”. You tell me lah!

Wow! Let’s see. My score is 5 out of 10! Not bad what! In between! Haha.

I have to improve on all these lah if it is true. Come on… it is all over the internet! It must be true. I’ve recently went for a blood test and there is even signs of stress. I must start on my supplements already! This is not good!

Health is Wealth!

If you see that I’m awake and still online during the wee hours, scold me and remind me that I need to sleep early, okay?

… is now 1 hour and 30 minutes.

That’s how long it took me to finish up a beer. Like seriously. Nadia called to meet up yesterday night with her other bunch of friends. So I thought, why not? Been a while tho…

Then she text me saying that she will order one bottle of beer. I thought otherwise because I need to wake up early. Which I AM NOW. She insisted and I replied in my SMS, “Mati Kudasai Aku“…

Talk about drinking…

My clubbing days are numbered and it has to come to an end. More than a year ago, I was pretty active in the club scene. Very active in the sense that I go clubbing on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

That shows how much I spent weekly on alcohol. Not forgetting cigarettes as well. The government nicely earns about RM 100-200 from me weekly on “sin tax”. Eh, not bad what. I’m supporting Malaysian economy.

Until the days, which was pretty much the last one year I started giving up everything.

Reason?

Number One. It helps with the pocket. Still have more reserves for something else.

Number Two. I’m more alert with my work now. No more hangover working dilemma now.

Number Three. Health reason. I just felt the need to stay healthy. Health is wealth.

Number Four. What more reason than to plan for the future. I want a healthy lifestyle where my wife and children don’t hate me because I smoke and drink. Furthermore, “most” woman doesn’t like their man who smokes and drinks. Right?

Number Five. Just my very own personal reason.

Nevertheless, I still drink. Like this one particular glass that lasted me more than one hour. I was dreading to finish this glass okay! It was like Fear Factor. What a challenge… Hahaha…

Nads! I think you need to find another drinking partners liao lah. Wait, you already have!

Gosh! I’m up super early! Taz… off to a seminar…

Whoa! I’m up so the early and this is my 800th POST PEOPLE!!!

Anyways, I’m back with so much more to update but I just need to set my priorities right lah. Yes, priorities I said. Everyone has got priorities, no?

The past few days was pretty much a reflection day for me, yet again. I always do this reflection thingy to just evaluate myself. It is already approaching June and 2nd-half of 2009 is coming real fast.

Some of the questions that I evaluate myself are:

What have I been doing for the past 1st-half of 2009?

How has The Company been progressing?

Am I able to make a big turnover for The Company?

AIESEC International Congress is coming. Am I ready for the challenge?

What have I achieved so far, in life?

Have I reached my targeted personal goals?

If not, am I on the right track or am I swaying out of alignment?

Am I fulfilling my 2009 resolutions?
(Yes I do!. I gave love. I’m doing weekly cleaning. I went for nice vacation. Looks like I’m on track for my resolution. Hahaha)

What about my Millionaire by 30 goal?

The question of life partner, which many people impose to me?

Am I sustaining my finances or straining it?

The family expenses?

How about health?

The list goes on and on and on and on…

Recent happenings has been prompting me to take a step back and look where I am heading. We only have once chance in this life why not make the best out of it, right?

I do personally think I am doing alright now, but at certain quarters I need to buck it up more! So, here I am now, getting my priorities straighten out. I pretty much have all the questions above answered and have reset my direction towards the right track again.

What’s killing me now is that, already I have so many questions answered, I now have another 270 item questionnaire waiting at my desktop for me to open it up. -_-

It was sent from HR and I have yet to open the link in the file but read the email.

Desperate times calls for desperate measure…

Tomorrow is my big presentation. Not big as in big big, but yeah. Kinda big.

I wouldn’t get into detail of what presentation it would be but it involves my company and my client.

PROBLEM – My sore throat is not gonna cure at all. Chucking down honey drinks and what not is not helping at all….

So I Googled “best cure for sore throat” and I found many replies…

I’ve found answers from About.com which pretty much lists down the many different type of remedies.

Then there is not so good listing at WikiAnswers. So much for a Wiki eh?

But the best would be from this blog MyFinancialJourney on Frugal cure for a sore throat.

I must say that I am impressed with the findings which was initially found here at EarthClinic.Com

Taken from EarthClinic these are the chart of most popular sore throat remedies:

MOST POPULAR SORE THROAT REMEDIES:

Cayenne Pepper got an impressive 316+ of YEAs! Whoa! That good?

As of to day there are more than 300 testimonials that it works. Come let me take one testimonial from the lot

[YEA] 05/10/2009: UA Student from Tucson, AZ writes: “I woke up this morning with a sore throat and have to go to work today where I am constantly talking to patrons. I decided to warm a coffee mug with warm water and about 1/2 a teaspoon full of cayenne pepper and gargled. It feels remarkably better! The only side effect I would say I felt is that my lips are kind of burning like I just ate some spicy salsa. But definitely worth it!”

I am so gonna go buy cayenne pepper and gargle it up to prepare my presentation tomorrow afternoon!

I don’t even know what cayenne pepper is so I decided to Wiki it up and it says

“The Cayenne, or Guinea pepper, or Bird pepper[1] is a red, hot chili pepper used to flavor dishes and for medicinal purposes.”

OMG!… GOT PICTURE SUMMORE!!!

DIE! …. COMFIRM DIE!!!…..

OH NO!! MAMA!! HELLPP!!! MAAAAAA……………… *cries*

Please pray for my safety when I gargle these tomorrow morning!!! *fingers crossed*

I will report to you to see if it works or not okay?

The weekend was wonderful and it still is. I’m gonna have another long day today.

It was Sunday the 8th of March 2009 and it was about 2 in the afternoon. I was driving back home from Ampang after a late brunch. I was at the huge intersection on Jalan Ampang and Jalan Tun Razak heading back to KLCC. The traffic light shows red for the road I’m on and the next go would be ours.

I was playing around with my camera, taking snapshots of my phone and there is a reason for it.
Seconds later, the traffic light turns green. We got a go!

Next thing I see. *BAAAMM!!!* A black BMW ran the red light at the opposite intersection, turning right onto Jalan Tun Razak towards US Embassy. A man riding a motorbike crash onto the back of the BMW and flew out of his bike.

The BMW fled the scene. It happened so fast that I got shocked to see that right in front of me. Lucky the victim that I’m going slow, else I would have ran over his head on the road. I would assume the car was a BMW, given the back profile of the car. That driver drove VERY FAST.

I stop my car just by the traffic light after the rider and ran down to see how he is doing. I see a lady in Gen2 coming down from her to come and help too.

I squat beside the victim and I ran a quick view on his condition before touching or moving him.

His eyes is shut. He is not moving. His left arm bruised from the fall. His left palm got a cut near his thumb. His is seen shaken.

Good thing about watching 911 back then is that I’ve learned some good points on what should I do when faced in this situation. I saw a guy on the phone and I asked him if he was calling the ambulance. He just nods his head. I ask the victim if he can move his leg. He kept quite. His eyes are still shut, from the pain I’m guessing. I asked him to try moving his leg again. He did but he struggled moving his left arm. He gestured with his right arm, putting a pat on his left arm saying very softly “patah“.

I let out in despair, “Oh God”.

Lifting my head up, I see a lot of people around me and the Gen2 lady. Most of them are motorbike riders. I’ve got a guy with his family in his Toyota Alphard asking if he is okay. OF COURSE HE IS NOT OKAY! The kind of question people ask! Stupid! Some guys helped with the victim’s bike left on the middle of the intersection and cleared the road from the accident debris.

The victim said in grievance tone, “Ambik tepilah. Panas!“. Takes no genius to guess further. The group of people moved him up to the curb. They all said a short Muslim prayer before moving him. What fascinate me is that, they all said it simultaneously. I smiled, knowing that he will be well taken care in God’s will.

I looked around for cloths to make a temporary arm sling to hold his arm close to his chest. Gen2 lady offered her help and she did mentioned that she works for Prince Court Medical Centre just down the road. I found the victim’s raincoat on his bike and passed it on to Gen2 lady. She made the arm sling.

We sat him down, resting his back on the traffic light with the support of Happy Pillow.

The Gen2 lady asked me if the ambulance has been called. I said, “Yes, the guy over there called already”. I asked the guy again, he just nod and pulled a long face which prompted me to call 999 myself. This time, thank godness the operator didn’t ask me for my race after taking down my name and phone number. I called 999 once back then and the operator asked me my race, and if the victim is Malay or Chinese and a lot of stupid question.

Gen2 lady said to send him to the nearest hospital instead which is Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) nearby on Jalan Pahang. I offered my help as other doesn’t seem to be very helpful either. I canceled the ambulance with the 999 operator and took the victim to HKL. One big size guy said I shouldn’t worry about moving him around and said he is a paramedic. Why the hell when you are a paramedic, you are standing there looking and talking and not helping??!!! Para-my-ass!!!

The guys there then moved the victim into my car. Took his belongings on from his motorbike and drove off to HKL. I had to brave the on comming traffic from KLCC, crossing onto Tun Razak heading towards IJN. It was hellova crazy experience there. Those cars won’t stop!

I reached HKL in a matter of minutes and looked for the emergency stop. I stopped my car and one attendant came out. He looked at the condition of the victim. He did some check on his body joints and then asked him to stand outside, while he went on to grab a wheelchair. The wheelchair came with one front wheel missing. World class healthcare we have here. I have not gone into detail how slow he is, did I?

Making sure he is well received, I asked the attendant on what should I do next. He told me that I can go straight home and they will take care of him. But, I decided not too. I went on looking for a car park. The car park in Hospital Kuala Lumpur is the worst! I don’t understand why people just can’t understand the importance of parking when our public transportation is a national joke!! Gah!

Parked my car, went back looking for the victim. He was well taken care of by a doctor to treat his wounds and put on an arm sling for his left arm. Helped him to register for his medical treatment and waited for a number to see another doctor.

Helped him call his company and he called his wife. His company secretary seems to worry more about her work more than her employee’s ordeal. “I got an urgent work to be done, I will go and visit him later.” was what his company’s secretary said.

While waiting, I got to know that he works as a personal driver. He also helps with his office work. His name is Mat. He stays at Taman Keramat. He was on his way to KLCC when the accident happened. He insist that I go ahead if I have something to do. I told him, “Tak ape. I akan tolong abang sampai isteri abang sampai.”

I’ve got work to do, an emergency travel booking. I decided that someone’s life is more important than work. I called my ticketing manager and sought her help with my work. I need to help this guy through the hospital process. He is on wheelchair with only one arm at his disposal for goodness sake.

The process took no more than 2 1/2 hours. He had to see a GP, then get an X-Ray done, back to the GP, register for his ward, go through a long hall to “Yellow Zone” ward and stayed there for treatment.

It is when we are at the ward, I see profesionalism and felt that, if I leave him alone here, he is on good hands. But then, I’ve met a few people who has nothing to do with the hospital but lingered around there to help me with directions. The hospital should hire them, as wardens maybe?

The doctors got their diagnose done and came to a treatment schedule for him. Mat got one small broken bone at his left shoulder. The cut on his left palm needs a few stitch and he doesn’t need to be warded. This guy, seems to be a medical student on housemanship asked me some questions about the incident. He thought I was Mat’s son. I told him that I’m not and he replied “You’ve done a good thing here Thomas.”

But then, I felt that I have not done enough. I should have seen the number plate of that car, and I think it is a BMW. I should have used my camera to take a quick snap when I saw the hit and run, but I didn’t. I was looking at Mat lying on the road instead. I should have gave a chase to the BMW to take down it’s number plate, but I didn’t.

Then again, I felt good helping Mat till I see his wife and handed over his personal belonging to Mat’s wife. Left my namecard with my personal IDs to be used when he reports the incident.

I sure do hope that the camera at the intersection did recorded the accident and Mat can use that to identify the BMW number plate. Or should I hope that the camera is working instead?
