Democracy

Our PM don’t accept rose! What can we give?

In a bid to send a rose to our beloved Prime Minister, Abdullah Badawi, it seems
that he doesn’t like or accept rose either.

It is all over the news in Al Jazeera, Reuters, BBC News, BBC Video, Sify News, and AFP.

With the widely international coverage of the protest news, it is “just another day of
international shame for Malaysia
(Lim Kit Siang)”. I couldn’t agree more.

The chronicles of 16th February 08 event can be viewed here at Roses4PM.

Malaysiakini has an exclusive video coverage. Please watch and judge yourself.

I’m just captivated by this event. WHY the need of arresting these people?
Aren’t we a democratic country as claimed by YOU Barisan Nasional leader?Let me show you WHAT IS a democratic country. United Kingdom.
Yes, in London, they had the similar protest, but they were of peace. They were not
even disturbed by the British Police. Not even a single water cannon sighted. In Malaysia, here in Kuala Lumpur, the way our government handles street protest
which really reflects the discontent of many Malaysians is different. They resort to
the usage of police force, water cannons, and tear gas.

For God’s sake, “They came in peace, seeking justice.” (Haris Ibrahim)

It was intended to be a peaceful event. No fight or any disturbance created.
I mean, of course there is a disturbance in a protest, else it wouldn’t be called
a protest in the first place. But, when it comes to a “peaceful” event, it means no
weapons, no fights but just chanting of names, crying out for help and well shouts.

You see, we are just human and being a human, we voice out what we do not like.
You BN leaders tells us there are avenues where we can voice out. But the problem
is, DO YOU LISTEN? If you don’t even want to listen to our “peaceful” protest,
what more can we expect from the other avenues we can go and complaint?
It is more like talking to deaf ears!

It is just not fair that we all Malaysians are treated like animals where you think
you can just arrest us and make sure we fear you. WHY MUST WE FEAR YOU!?

You can go ahead and keep on arresting all of us Malaysians for we will still stand
on our ground and fight on for a better Malaysia for all of Malaysians.
Although I would say Malaysia is a beatiful country but I just couldn’t agree much
as it is YES a beautiful country FROM THE OUTSIDE, but NOT INSIDE!

When our Prime Minister don’t accept roses, what else can we give him eh?

I say we give him our piece of mind on this coming 12th General Election!!

Today is Human Rights Day!

This is Human Rights Day celebration – Malaysian Style..

Those overseas (including non-Malaysians), those sleeping, those who doesn’t care
(time to start caring) those not reading news, those who has been busy with life-work
or something else.. This was what happened over the weekend.

Today, 10th Dec we all celebrate Human Rights Day and lawyers and members of the public decided to celebrate it a day before and well, much hindrance from the police force the march was called off and more than 5 people mostly lawyers were arrested. Why? Because of peace march? No one knows.

I’ve got this video off the same link above from Bar Council website.
Hope they don’t mind.

I will take it down if it is against your policy.

I can’t blame the police for doing all those. Seriously. Why? Because, our constitutions
are neither here or there.

Under Article No 9 (Prohibition of banishment and freedom of movement) of our Federal Constitution under Part II (Fundamental Liberties),

Article 9, Clause(2)
Subject to Clause (3) and to any law relating to the security of the Federation or any part thereof, public order, public health, or the punishment of offenders, every citizen has the right to move freely throughout the Federation and to reside in any part thereof.

Article 9, Clause(3)
So long as under this Constitution any other State is in the special position as compared with the States of Malaya, Parliament may by law impose restrictions, as between that State and other States, on the rights conferred by Clause (2) in respect of movement and residence.

But it is sad that even though in Article 9, it states that we can practice freedom of movement we are still governed by Parliament and still can’t practice freedom of movement.

Article 10 (Freedom of speech, assembly and association) states

Article 10, Clause (1)
Subject to Clauses (2), (3) and (4) -
(a) every citizen has the right to freedom of speech and expression;
(b) every citizen have the right to assemble peaceably and without arms;
(c) all citizens have the right to form association.

This give us the basic rights to be in the position of freedom of speech and assembly.

Article 10, Clause (2)
Parliament may by law impose -
(a) on the rights conferred by paragraph (a) of Clause (1), such restrictions as it deems necessary or expedient in the interest of the security of the Federation or any part thereof, friendly relations with other countries, public order or morality and restrictions designed to protect the privileges of Parliament or of any Legislative Assembly or to provide against contempt of court, defamation, or incitement to any offence;
(b) on the right conferred by paragraph (b) of Clause (1), such restrictions as it deems necessary or expedient in the interest of the security of the Federation or any part thereof or public order;
(c) on the right conferred by paragraph (c) of Clause (1), such restrictions as it deems necessary or expedient in the interest of the security of the Federation or any part thereof, public disorder or morality.

This gives the government to stop you from doing so otherwise.
I’m lost in this.. someone care to help? It doesn’t make sense.

But, for a peaceful march, the police thinks that it may cause any problems in the
interest of security or public order?

50 years of independence must be a joke for Malaysia. Was this constitution created
with the help of the British when they were here while we proclaim independence? If it
is, I guess it is timely enough for us to start a movement called Malaysian Rights Action Force (MARAF) and claim our Malaysians’ misfortune in Human Rights and shall seek
RM50 Trillion in compensation! (in commemorative of 50th independence year -__-)

Oh wells… so much for a Human Rights Day eh?…

Free Nathaniel Tan NOW!

Nathaniel Tan has been arrested for no reason and without a proper
code of arrest by 3 plain cloth policemen. It is so unethical in their
way of approach.

I am blogging this to reach the attention of many of you out there
to take this matter seriously. Because you and I could be next.

I’ve faced the police before, because I was supposedly thought of
having drugs in my apartment, and boy, I know how unethical they are!

Lina Joy, No Joy

This case was ruled by court about 2 days ago.
What case you may ask?

A case of this lady Lina Joy who was born of Malay parents, wanted
to convert to a Christian, but then was denied by the Federal Court.

Why? Because our court ruling is as such that the Syariah Court is
“actually” higher than the Federal Court. Lina Joy was just ruled and
denied for her constitutional rights by the Federal Court.

A quote from the Quran taken from RantingsbyMM (Marina Mahathir)

Al Baqarah 2: 256
Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in God hath grasped the most trustworthy hand- hold, that never breaks. And God heareth and knoweth all things.

The meaning is deep, but it shows that all God are not bias. It is just us the
Human Beings whom are the creation of our almighty God are, the bias ones.
No any God ever holds those who decides to leave the faith, but welcome their
decision to believe in the faith or otherwise.

The right of freedom is also mentioned in our Constitution under Article 11.
Filed in Fundamental Liberties, the Article 11: Freedom of Religion reads;

(1) Every person has the right to profess and practise his religion and, subject to Clause (4), to propagate it.

While Clause (4): Supreme law of the Federations reads;

(1) This constitution is the supreme law of the Federation and any law passed after Merdeka Day which is inconsistent with this Constitution shall, to the extent of the inconsistency, be void.

Puteri Shehnaz Majid of the Malaysian Bar wrote a nice piece of comment in
regarding to this Article 11 matters.

A coalition was formed in May 2004 named, Article 11 was created to create
awareness amongst all Malaysian about their constitutional rights.

I feel that my freedom to choose my religion has been taken away just like that.

Malaysia. Good, Bad or Ugly?

What do you think of Malaysia in general?
Do you feel like you belong here?
Are you regretting that why were you born here rather than Australia?

Many people would say, get rich here, and then pack your bags and run to
other countries like Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, USA or China…
Where living there is a lot better than Malaysia.

Political wise, yeah I can see, hear and feel it myself that it is VERY
discriminating. Malays fight words with Chinese la, Indians being cornered
and left out in the building of the nation.

We are living in a country where there is so much diversity but its
just not behaving like it is. We are all living separately. Sad but true.

I could all blame it to the politicians la. I mean, we Malaysians will not be a
racist unless we are taught or being shown to. Just like this politician in
the video below where he is in the Parliament and this is how he acts.

What a monkey huh? I pity the oppositions who continues to fight
for the cause of the people, free speech, free country, no racism and
fight for what the country is meant to be. A democratic country.

I have many friends in Australia now, studying or working.
I was chatting with Pooi Yee earlier about her studies at Aussie…
She never regretted studying in Australia and she still miss her family
and friends over here in Malaysia. She said “Malaysia is where the heart lies”

I told her

The grass looks better at the other end of the world. BUT! One thing. There is only one lovely place where you can yell your lungs out
” Ah Neh! Makan, Nasi Lemak Ayam tambah Mata Kerbau.
Minum, Teh Tarik Kurang Manis Satu!”

And you can yell it out 24-hours a day 364 days a year. (minus deepavali)

Whenever people leaves the country because of our infamous screwed up
politics, I will ask “Why? Why you leave and let this country go rotten?”

Its always the answer, “It is already in bad shape and its turning bad!”

I would say, no its not. Its you people who are leaving who is making it worst.
Think who are the people running this country at most in the parliament?
Would you want to let these people ruin the country by giving directions
and which not everyone wants and love? Why not make a change? How?
Run to another country, but come back when there is election in your
local councils or when there is general elections.

If you don’t vote for people who can make a change, your votes will be sold.
Believe not? YOU MUST BELIEVE.

But well, you can’t change other people’s decision right… hmmss…
I still love this country, but politics overrules everything else here…

Dozen Arrested at IOI Puchong.

4th January, a protest by People’s Justice Party (Parti Keadilan Rakyat).
I just read about it, and I even knew about the event.

About a dozen protesters were arrested. Oh didn’t you know what if you want
to protest in Malaysia, you need to get approval and a permit from the police
so that you can protest? Funny? Shocking? but IT’S TRUE.
I don’t understand how you could still call it protest when it is approved by
the government? ahha

The protest is left with some ugly scenes, which is already a norm in M’sia.
The police is king of all while the rakyat is the dirt of all..

As reported by Elizabeth Wong, some of the names whom are arrested are

Nora, Yee Ling (Youth for Change), Jasmine, Badrul Hisham,
Ezam Mohd Nor, Tian Chua, R. Sivarasa (KeADILan), Dr. Hatta Ramli,
Mohd Sabu, Member of Parliament Salahuddin Ayub (PAS), reporter
Syafik and several others.

Youth 4 Change!!

There is a group within us that we do not know much about has born..
Thanks to the initiators Khai Loon and Yee Ling…

Youth 4 Change’s main objective is to encourage youths to be active in
political agenda and also to pursue for a more transparency and democratic
government and local governence.

Read more about them at http://y4c.seacem.com

I was invited to one of their open public forum on New Economic Policy(NEP)
and “ASLI Research on Bumi Equity”. It was very eye-opening and to me,
more youths should be encouraged to join this kind of open discussion..

Some of the pointers we talked about during this forum are mainly on how
NEP was constructed and the hidden agendas behind NEP and also the ASLI
report on bumi equity share which was much being talked around the country.

The ASLI report was being viewed only at one point but there are also many
other point that we can view the report and one of the was the methology
ASLI used on their research.. and ASLI was being shot because of their report
that was “pressume” WRONG by the government.

What is so important about bumi-equity anyway, in my own opinion.
No matter how much you champion 30% of bumi-equity, the country has
not seen tremendous growth just like Singapore or any of our neighbouring
countries whom are doing far better than us!!

Another main pointers also is the involvement of Youths in day-to-day agenda.
Mainly in how our country is being run and the local governence..
We elect our representative to run and rule our country, but in the end, we
are being stabbed at the back for not getting much and benefit from them
being appointed because in-fact appointing them benefit them the most.

We all can make a change we know what is going and and we all take care
of our surrounding. Looking at our current situation in our government, we
all need change. BADLY…

Another Dumb Move.. Plain Stupidity

I don’t know.. what’s your say?
Because of this kind of separation and mind thinking of certain quaters of
people in our country, we are not gonna be advancing in time..

Furore over Perak’s bumiputra-only circular

IPOH: A circular compelling all state department heads to buy stationery and rent photocopiers only from bumiputra companies has sparked a public outcry.

Pantai Remis assemblyman Nga Kor Ming said he had received many complaints from suppliers over the matter.

“I have also checked with the state secretariat about the circular and I have been told that it is the policy,” he told a press conference here yesterday.

Nga, who is also DAP Socialist Youth chief, said the policy was a “serious marginalisation” of non-bumiputra suppliers.

A copy of the circular for renting of photocopiers, which was made available to the press, states that the state Financial Office is allowing all state department heads to select a company for the service after the contracts with four existing suppliers expire.

The June 9, 2006, circular, also states that the department heads must choose a company which has a bumiputra status.

The circular named the four existing suppliers as CS OA Enterprise, Ricoh (M) Sdn Bhd, Tele Dynamics Metro Sdn Bhd and Successive Enterprise.

Nga urged Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Tajol Rosli Ghazali to view the matter seriously. He said the state policy was a form of “abuse of the National Economic Policy” which called for 30% of the equity to go to bumiputras.

“This state policy is calling for 100% and it will only enrich bumiputras who are closely linked to Umno,” he charged.

“We are only calling for fair treatment and fair competition.”

When contacted, state Financial Officer Datuk Jamalludin Al Amini Ahmad declined comment.
