Shanghai World Expo 2010 – Culture, Science and Technology
May 11th
I thought I would like to write up more on the Shanghai World Expo 2010.
The whole purpose of this Shanghai World Expo 2010 is to showcase the culture, science and technology of each participating countries, to the world. Most importantly to create business opportunities.
If any of you would remember, back in the 1960s. There are two famous Wold’s Fair held in New York in 1939 and 1964. That were the similar event to the current Shanghai World Expo 2010. It was then US was in their great era in military, economy, technology and of course science. It is also a time where US was coming out of depression in 1939. Maybe, it could be a show of strength towards the cold war they had with Russia back then after the World War II.
Now, the sleeping giant has awaken, thus the Shanghai World Expo 2010 comes to life. True or not, don’t hold my words for it. China is set to become the next big giant in economy, science and technology also not forgetting as well, the Chinese culture. That I can say, it will happen and it’s happening already.
Watch this promotional video of Shanghai Expo 2010 by DiscoverChinaNow.
Watching the video above, gives me great feeling. A feeling I can’t describe with words. Maybe it was because of the music… Hehe.
It is somewhat like Age of Empires, where you can see how each achievement each age can bring to a certain nation. Truly amazing. It’s Age of Empires, live in Shanghai, 2010!
Okay… Maybe I should start planning to head over to Shanghai World Expo 2010.
I may sound that I’m comparing two countries on this particular event. In actual fact, World Expo happens every 5 years. The previous World Expo 2005 was held in Japan.
This video can tell you more facts on Shanghai World Expo 2010.
The World Expo is govern by the Bureau International des Expositions.
My final question before I part this post is, will Malaysia bid to host a World Expo?
Shanghai World Expo 2010 – Opens for visitors
May 2nd
1st May 2010, the Shanghai World Expo 2010 opens to the world. Shanghai is expecting around 70 million visitor for this six months long World Expo that will end at 31st October 2010.
A total of 189 countries is participating in the World Expo and a whopping USD$45 billion has been spent on the face-lift of Shanghai for this World Expo.
The World Expo Site in Shanghai.
On the night of 30th April 2010, Shanghai launched the Shanghai World Expo 2010 in style. Al Jazeera’s Divya Gopalan reports.
For those who can’t make it there, worry not as you can be part of the World Expo though Shanghai Expo Online. Shanghai is surely exploiting the online technology to the max.

Through Shanghai Expo Online, you can interact with every available pavilion that is available there. You can even walk around the expo, just like playing Sims. It is truly phenomenal that you HAVE TO give it a try. Wonder if they would create Sims Expo? Hmmm…

I shall be covering the Shanghai World Expo 2010 more in coming weeks. There’s so much to talk about. Stay tuned.

Bangkok Shooting Range
Jun 5th
During Day 2 in Bangkok, I visited a shooting range in Bangkok.
Run by Shiro Enterprises Thailand, this is seriously one unseen army tourism. Very niche and not many people about this. So, that’s why I decided to blog about this Bangkok Shooting tour and let you all know about it.

Hah! You don’t know that you can actually do a tour out at the shooting range?

The shooting range is open from 9AM till 5PM daily, except on public holidays.

Paid like 3000 bath for it. Wait, I think we got a discount as I presented my travel agent ID. Heh Heh…

We need to take a public transport to the shooting range from the office. It takes about 15 minutes to reach outside the army camp. You will be transferred to an army pick up truck to get into the army camp.

There you go, the types of handguns that I chose and I can tell you, they are somewhat heavy!

You will be supervised by an instructor on how to aim and shoot. That person will help you to reload your handgun but I decided to do it myself. Need to do the kiss and pray it will be a bulls eye shot.

The shooting begins. The fire power was so strong that I was taken aback. You need to hold firmly on the handgun to be accurate. I need to hold it firmly and make sure that the strength of my arm is strong enough to withhold the “thrust” of the gun shot. I guess, firing a gun is not for me.

They got rifle too, but I didn’t want to spend on it lah. It’s about additional 1200 bath for the rifle.

We had fun lah. So much fun that I had to this this picture below. Of course, we need to observe safety and not walk into the field without informing others and until they holster down their weapon.

I do have a video for you all to enjoy…
Hasta la vista people!!

Perth Day 2 – Rottnest Island Fun
May 7th
*** Warning: TWENTY FIVE EXCITING PICTURES AHEAD ***
Now, this is the long version after my short preview like few weeks ago.
So, after our Day 1 in Perth, we just want to head somewhere and do something. So we visited this youth travel agent on Hay Street to look for stuffs to do for the next 6 days in Perth. Wanted to book our day 2 trip to Rottnest Island but decided not instead. Because we felt that we could do it from scratch.
And, our journey to Rottnest Island began…
#1 – We took a train all the way to Freemantle and from there, we took the Rottnest Ferry over to Rottnest Island. Took us about 30 minutes to reach the island.

#2 – Rue and Jun giving their thumbs up.

#3 – This is me camwhoring upon arrival at Rottnest Island. Wheeee….

#4 – I had to take this shadow picture of us lah…

#5 – We walked over to the visitor centre nearby the main jetty and got ourselves a map. Went over to the Bike Hire place and got ourselves one bike each. Each bike cost us about AUD$ 50 for a day’s rental. Not too bad eh?

$6 – There were 3 tracks to follow and they are Too Easy, about 4KM/1hour; Relax or Snorkel, about 10KM/3hours; and Whole of Island, about 22KM/5hours. We took the Relax or Snorkel route.

#7 – First stop was Hernrietta Rocks. The view was breathtaking! OMG!

#8 – Then, we took a long cycle towards Wadjemup Lighthouse. Whoa! It was killer cycling there.

#9 – We are such a camwhore… aren’t we?

#10 – Next stop will be Oliver Hill Battery, but on our way, we found little Kangawoo. Haha. Or better known as Quokka. Watch out from these cuties… They smack ass man…!!!

#11 – We then reached Oliver Hill.

#12 – Rue and Jun nearly got ran over by the train. Watch Rue duck the train… -_-

#13 – OH! The view there was breathtaking too!! Why the sky in Aussie so nice wan!?

#14 – It’s time to head back and look for food. On the way back we passed by Pearse Lakes.

#15 – The place where all the restaurants are. They call it the Settlement Shops.

#16 – After a nice meal, we headed over to the beach at The Basin.

#17 – I started to play with the beach sand. Writing words like DGMB. See! I brought DGMB all the way to Aussie! Muahahah

#18 – Saw the waves and had an instant idea to draw a heart and make a snapshot of this. NIce or not?

#19 – Took a snapshot of what I found on the beach…

#20 – also a snapshot of Rue taking a dip…

#21 – Made friends with the wildlife there…

#22 – While I’m doing all those, Jun was busy…
Hahah, tangkap basah!

#23 – It’s approaching late evening and our ferry will be departing soon. Time to go! Bye bye Rottnest Island… *Sniffs*

#24 – We headed back to the city to look for dinner. Dinner was at Arirang and it was a sumptous one. Brought Lee there, our Korean buddy befriended at Old Swan Barracks.

#25 – After dinner, we walked about in the city and I stopped by my shop in Perth and modeled in front of it. -_-

That’s it! That’s my second day in Perth. It was pure pure pure pure pure fun! Epic!
Went back to our backpackers with sore thighs. That’s what you get for not cycling for ages!

Bangkok Day 1 – Palace, River and Condoms
May 3rd
I guess I shall adopt blog post style ala Pinkpau style. Because it would be easier and nicer without much words, but just pictures and captions.
Also because I got so many pictures and I am lazy to elaborate the details of my trip and what not. Because, you should be going for the kind of trip that I went to and enjoy it yourself.
Also because pictures speaks a thousand words..
Now.. do enjoy… the 30 pictures I’ve selected over thousands of them…
#1 – So I was at the BTS station… (no, that’s not me…)

#2 – We wanted to do Chao Praya river cruise, so we headed to Saphan Taksin station.

#3 – Here comes the train…

#4 – We could have done the cruse ourselves but decided to take a tour then. It cost us THB 1300. Well, it is not really worth it. You can actually get less by going way down to the pier and rent a boat to go tour the river yourself, without a tour guide that is.

#5 – Our boat for the four of us…

#6 – Saw some temples along the river…

#7 – The Wichai Prasit Guns…

#8 – We made some charity fish feeding…

#9 – Saw a mini floating market…

#10 – Laid back lifestyle for the people staying along the river…

#11 – Artist house along the river banks…

#12 – Grocery store…

#13 – We made a tour to the King’s Palace…

#14 – Our tour guide. Let’s call him Bob and he is good because he can talk. We were exhausted because we talk too much… hahaha

#15 – More temple pictures…

#16 – Camwhoring in the temple… No, it is not illegal…

#17 – Very the golden…

#18 – We left all the temples action back to the city. But couldn’t go far, because we had to make our way to Erawan Shrine near our hotel or better known as the Four Face Buddha.

#19 – Flowers for offerings…

#20 – I had Pork Burger at McDonalds for tea break… Oh the yummy…

#21 – Back to the hotel. Rest. Then headed over for dinner at Cabbages & Condoms.

#22 – Saw Arirang Korean Restaurant on our way to Cabbages & Condoms. Wonder if I would encounter similar cool & cold korean lady there?… hmmm..

#23 – After dinner, we asked for mints after the meal but they gave us condoms instead. -_-

#24 – We then headed to Sirocco at the top of Lebua Hotel, State Tower for some drinks and breathtaking views of Bangkok at night. Very nice place indeed. Another post for this place.

#25 – We ended our night with a nice thai foot massage that cost us THB 300 each.

Ahhh.. WONDEFRUL.
That my friends, is my Day 1 of Bangkok trip… Day 2 was more relaxing with some action on hand.
Stay tune to find out more…

The Perth Mint
Mar 9th
It is our first day in Perth and while walking around the city, we decided to take an entry to The Perth Mint. The entrance into The Perth Mint cost us AUD$15 each person and the tour will take about 1 hour. When we arrived at The Perth Mint, the security guard asked us where we are from, for statistics. We told him that we are Malaysian and he said that he remembers Old Klang Road. He was dispatched here in Malaysia back then during World War II. He right palm is handicapped, maybe due to to his service in the army.
So, we arrived just in time to join a group for a tour.

Joining the group, we were told about the history of the mining industry in Perth. The guide also showed us the types of gold nuggets that were mined in Perth. The tour ended with a demonstration on how gold is melted and made into a gold bar.

Demonstration lasted for about 20 minutes just to see how the demonstrator pour out the liquids of gold into a cast, then cool it with water and then pour it back again into the boiling pot to melt it for next demonstration.
Of course, before leaving Perth Mint, we have to camwhore first.

I got myself a bronze coint for AUD$2. Just as a souvenir.
Kuala Lumpur Twin Tower
Jul 23rd
This is just a random entry…
I took the first beautiful shot right from my office.
The second one, was while I was walking on my way into Suria KLCC.
Those who came to my office before will have to agree that, the view is just magnificent. Right?
Okay.. so here goes the pictures.. My two best collection so far on KLCC.

It is a beauty aye?
Let’s do a KLCC Photography shootout from my office? hahah
RM 30 Million Eye
Dec 29th
In conjunction to Malaysia’s 50th anniversary of independence and also its
Visit Malaysia Year 2007, the government decided that it will build an eye
worth RM 30 Million as an attraction for one whole year.
The location would be at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur.
This location will be the launchpad for VMY 2007, where there will be
cultural shows and alot more events in place for that night.
2007 will see a full list of events going on and it is gonna attract a sum of
20 million visitors in that year itself while the Ministry of Horticulture and
Agro-tourism (MAHA) is expecting some 500,000 visitors.
Everything is going on full swing and preparations and has been hot.
My only concern is, why there is a need to build something that is worth
RM 30 Million and it is a COPY, while we can improve on other tourism
sectors and facilities. Seriously! Why?
Why do we need to wait until now, for this VMY 2007 event only we realize
that we need to buck up our tourism sector. Why is it every time that we
need to buck up things last minute.
I guess, the next thing they are gonna do is keep the structure and rename
it Malaysia Airlines KL Eye since it is already a copy structure from
British Airways London Eye.
Just, GOOD LUCK Malaysia. I’m all for VMY 2007. But the RM 30mil eye!!
I’m speechless on that. HOW could that RM 30 million really help boost our
tourism is just my only question. But instead, how RM 30 million can be
used to better upgrade our current island look (not tioman marina) and
clean our sea and beaches is what I’m looking forward the govt to THINK!
Happy New Year and Happy VMY 2007 in 2 Days.
Tourism Dubai…
Mar 7th
Tourism has always been the table talk of a few if not, many.
India’s tourism is set to grow after China and the country is now setting
a smooth pace to receive more and more tourist.
Next would be the Middle East, where we see a boom of tourist will rise.
I am seeing Middle East as an upmarket destination..
Middle East countries like Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Syria and etc. has the
capacity and reserves in monies to build up their tourism and to increase
tourism spendings.
I would like to share what we are going to see in Dubai in years to come,
10 years from now on…
ENJOY!…

The soon to be tallest building in the world. Burj Dubai
Underwater Hotel. First in the world.

The Palms Island. Island formation that looks like palm from above.
