Meeting People…
August 3, 2008 – 10:14 pmOver the weekend, it has been a time to meet many new people and I would say, it was a pleasure to have met many of them…
So, Friday I had a meeting after work for an international event next year. It was more like a weekly wrap up meeting to have a checklist on what’s going on and what’s next to do.
Then, came saturday it was 2nd Annual Malaysian Student Leaders Summit. It started morning and went all the way to the night about 7pm. After that, I had two meet ups. One is for AIESEC Malaysia’s new office-house warming at PJ and another was a random meet up plan. The latter was pretty much random that plan were pushed on, agreed, change of plan to meet, delayed and thus the meet up was not materialized while I was on my way. But, meeting one Swiss couple and a Canadian dude made up for the meeting which was not materialized.
The Swiss couple, Claudio and Sabine are working and enjoying their time here in Malaysia respectively. Sabine happened to be in the same industry with me, tourism. The funny thing was, she was pretty much quiet during the party and I was introduced to her by Emily and thus, we clicked right there and then!
She had a difficulty in looking for jobs for short term, and maybe long term here in Malaysia with several companies in the tourism trade. It was tough because of the jurisdiction towards working visa and permit.
I told her that I will try to pull some strings with some of the big tourism organization which I am working alongside with and see how I can help her get a place.
This Canadian guy, I couldn’t recall his name, I guess it was Walce or something. Gah! My memory is getting bad! I need a personal assistant with my schedules and name please!! haha! He is doing his interns with the Malaysian Canadian Business Council. Very nice guy, with his world of idealogies of life and what not. Funny guy.
Then, I got to meet numerous of people at MSLS2008. Be it current/future/former students or corporate figures and peoples, it was indeed a pleasure and great meeting insight with them. We share a lot of things and well of course we all pretty much had a same discussion and insight towards our Malaysian state of economy and political scenario.
There were several highlights during the summit and my favourite would be the Ministerial Address by our Education Minister, YB Dato’ Seri Hishammudin, the Industry and Corporate Forum and finally the much anticipated Young YBs Forum where YB Khairy Jamaluddin, YB Tony Pua and YB Nik Nazmi was the panelist.
It was great fun and thus making my weekend a great one!
More updates on what happened during the summit this coming few days.
