I guess you many of you who have been here seen the banner at the top right sidebar
with the name ‘Pangea Day’.
Have you seen the short clip on that Pangea Day banner?
Do you know what Pangea Day is all about?
Have I told you about it?

Watch this video before you continue reading…

Pangea Day is a day born out of TED. TED is an annual conference event held in Monterey California United States every year. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing people from those three worlds. The scope of TED has broaden over the years but the formula remains the same: Gather the world’s leading thinkers and doers; offer them four days of rapid-fire stimulation. The result? Unexpected connections. Extraordinary insights. Powerful inspiration.

Pangea Day which is scheduled to be hosted worldwide on the 10th of May 2008 in most of the major cities around the world, is an event born out of one wish. The wish of Jehane Noujaim who won the TED Prize at the 2006 Annual TED Conference.Jehane Noujaim, a filmmaker herself won a grant of $100,000 and more importantly she was given a wish. A wish to change the world. Her wish was to create a day in which the world came together through film. Pangea Day grew out of that wish. Watch this video of Jehane who unveils Pangea Day.

It is going to take very long to load. So follow this link to a new window and let it load.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CMQLwhwySsI can’t remember how I came to know about this event, while I’m pretty much sure I was surfing around some sites that provokes ideas. I think I went through TED website. When I watched the video of Jehane unveiling Pangea Day, I was really touched. Touched by her brilliant idea and wish to make this one day that brings million of people around the world to watch videos produced and made by normal ordinary folks all around the world. They even have this particular link where they would encourage if you could host this particular day in your country.

It was back in February when I first get to know Pangea Day and I signed up as host and map myself in their website. Since then, I have been getting a lot of request about this event. I have wrote to Nokia Malaysia, thinking they would be kind to throw in some help and maybe some money for the marketing of this event. Guess my letter was thrown into the bin or something. After a month of trying, I just gave up putting so much hope on this event and just watch the video at the comfort of my home in front of the computer. Just when I was about to leave everything down, this guy Ija Mohan who runs My Spicy Corner came into the picture and he has the same interest to host this wonderful day.Ija is so much into the event created a Facebook Group to create an awareness.

Pangea Day is not pretty much going to be a hit here in Malaysia, but it will pretty much worldwide and I’m going to bring people together for this event here in Malaysia together with Ija at My Spicy Corner.

Imagine! Australia sings for Lebanon.
Imagine! Japan sings for Turkey.
Imagine! France sings for USA.

It is going to be phenomenal. I wonder why not many Malaysian take interest in this kind of event as it will broaden our views towards world interest. Yeah, we already have enough ‘funny’ interests here in our very own country about pig farming, who should lead this country, was there really a sodomy and the list goes on and on…
THIS PANGEA DAY is different!

So come and join me at My Spicy Corner on the 10th of May 2008. More like 11th of May because it is 2AM after midnight of Saturday. I’m sure there is a match going on and you can watch this video after the match…

  2. I think it is great there are malaysians out there who cares enough about what goes on in the world. We Malaysians are fortunate to have a relatively easy life and we sometimes forget what we can do to help others around the world which will impact us one day. I wished I could attend the Pangea Day screening at Spicy corner, kudos to Ija too for volunteering… i am down with an awful cold.

Just wanted to drop a line to show you my support… and also to other malaysians on the same wavelength!
