Travel E-Ticketing Style

July 2, 2007 – 9:35 pm

How much do you know about e-ticketing?

With technology, traveling is made easier. E-ticketing is a new system
implemented and governs by International Air Transport Association
(IATA)
to simplify the travel business.

As you could have read from newspaper, Malaysia Airlines is moving
towards e-ticketing implementations and you might wonder what is
all that about, huh?

When you travel normally, you travel with your normal ticket that
look similarly like this, known as paper ticket.

But now, major airlines do not need you to travel with these paper
documents anymore. Travel agents or airlines can now issue electronic
tickets or better known as e-tickets to their customers.

E-tickets that looks like the above is a better and much safer option of
travel document to be carried by anyone as introduced by IATA. Why?

If you lose your e-ticket, no problem, it can be replaced at no extra cost.
Paper ticket when lost, you need to pay a penalty and you might not be
able to board the flight at all.

E-tickets allows you to travel seamlessly. From online check-in to printing
your boarding pass from your comfort of your home.

Online Check-in?! Yes, you can check-in online. Just like KLM Royal Dutch
and many more other international airlines even AirAsia, have this
check-in online facility at their websites.

What else you can do with e-ticket? You can JUMP QUEUE! Yes!
You can “potong queue”! Avoid lining up so freaking long just to check-in
but instead, go to these machines at the airports and you can check-in
yourself and even select your seats. How good!

These machine is called Common Used Self Service (CUSS) Kiosk.
Not all airport terminal has this machines yet, (like our KLIA *sad*)

Another great milestone with e-ticket is that you can print your own
boarding pass. And I mean printing your boarding pass at the comfort
of your home! Airlines like Singapore Airlines and Qantas Airways
allows you to do so by printing the unique 2D boarding pass which
looks like this.

Gone were the days where you need to use paper ticket to travel. It is
so.. SOOO advance now, technology makes things simplier.

So next time, you travel, insist of getting an e-ticket. You get to travel
in style. Unfortunately, if you are planning to travel by Malaysia Airlines,
sorry ya, no e-tickets available YET. Unless you purchase directly
from MAS ticket counter, and that also applies to DOMESTIC sectors
only.. so much so for an international 5 STAR awarded airline huh?

Oh, need any travel tickets.. call me ;)

  3. i would bed to differ anna,
with e-ticketing, i can now go mobile. do business everywhere instead of sitting down in office serving my customers..
i can serve them right in front of them. and issue them ticket on the spot.

customer booking their own ticket yes, that’s mostly for individual travellers. but corporate companies still need travel agents.
